Have a search - quite interesting, I remembered the Grace Spitfire from a learn to fly a Spitfire competition on C4 a few years ago.

Nick Grace restored it, then died and as his memorial his widow Carolyn learnt to fly ML407

I love the show, especially the road trips / races. Strangely no e-mails from TG / BBC2 yet, I subscribe to it ( it is free after all ) normally some advance notice and trailers on TV but I haven't seen one yet.
JC certainly speaks his mind not like all the other diluted BBC shows, the last episode against the German competition was as funny as a Morecambe and Wise Christmas special, and where did they get 3 two seater Spitfires? They daren't censor the show too much as it makes the BBC an awful lot of money.

Sorry for being thick, but i thought it was taxpayers the licence fee that paid for the BBC :-/
It does, but the show is sold to over 150 other TV networks, the magazines, DVD's, merchandise etc make the BBC more money than any other show, that's why JC gets paid a lot of money, he is probably on a % of profits.

The money the BBC makes means that we have better programming than we would have on the budget BBC has.

Love or hate BBC is still one of the most respected broadcasters in the world

They do some things incredibly well, Attenborough for one. Sadly they do not always produce such brilliant programmes, but overall I think the BBC is good value for money, £12 a month licence fee, £30 for Sky to watch mainly repeats, and 18 minutes of adverts in every 60mins.

Of course you can see them live at Earls Court and the NEC (although there don't seem to many tickets left!):

Do you know if the grace family lived in Essex around 15 years ago Martin?
I took my son and a couple of young lads fishing ,and one of the young lads said his mum had a spitfire, when I commented that there werent many of them left on the roads,he said "not a car,a plane".
His friend told me later that the boys dad was killed flying the plane ,then his mum had it repaired and flew it herself.  :-/

One was the Grace Spitfire - and there are 3 two seats flying in the UK today

I believe there would be another if Charles Church, the house builder, had not crashed his two seater ( is this so Martin?) example and sadly paid with his life. :'( :'(

How do we ge to this situation, how can anyone be worth that sort of money, it's like football. >:( Yes, pay them a lot of money if they are worth it, but not silly money, and all that money to show Match of the Day :o think it is about time the licence fee was removed.......... I pay it to watch quality TV, sadly lacking, not to pay large salaries :-X

Despite the fact we complain bitterly about the TV licence fee, I object even more to paying £22 a month to sky to watch repeats and the 3 hour roll over of the same thing on the Dave channel.

Sadly it's the best bunch of TV programs ammongst a very sad TV coverage offered by all providers,TV was a lot more varied when we only had 3 terrestial channels, even adding channel 4 and 5 never really got me watching them.

£264 a year to watch repeats and the added con of the TV LIcence fee on top of that, I dont really know why I still bother.

We are about to drop our sky package, if not get rid all together, we seem to manage well enough at the Caravan with just Free View. ::)

I think the more choice the worse it gets, we can sit with however many hundred choices and still find nothing to watch, too much choice. ::) ::) ::)

At least with sky we have a choice wether to pay and view or not.
Imo,the tv licence should be scrapped, and the bloated orginisation should have to survive in the marketplace with every one else.
