What BMW
« on: 19 December 2006, 22:58:38 »

As I am ware we are all very sensible Omega owners on this site
But i just had to put down what happened coming home tonight from work. My Omega running lovely since ex.manifold blow done etc... and was happily cruising along in the evening mad rush 2 hours, when a BMW320i coupe decided he didn't want to wait in the queue for the lane we were waitng in and come down the outside lane to cut in at the last minute for M2 stockbury roundabout. He happened to pull in behind me about an inch from my tailgate, as we came off the roundabout the 2 lane black top became very clear and i pulled to LH lane and BMW went flying past tooting his horn at a lumbering estate infront of him. Now an hour of frustrated traffic jam driving and i thought what the hell, hit sport button and buried throttle, MAN what a noise 24valve quad cam twin induction roar and snarling exhaust 6500 rpm and change up to start all over again what a fantastic sound, who needs a radio. first time i opened it like that and was enjoying it so much i couldn't see the BMW anywhere till i realised his "halo" lights were a long way back. I must point out that at no time was i racing on the public highway, it was no contest hence no race! What a great car

yeah they do make a nice noise when driven appropriately rather than merely guided on their way :)

but I still reckon a manual is better for that sort of thing! ... although sport mode has a good go ... the trouble is it can make you want to bury the pedal all the time, which isn't good for the MPG - but if you can afford it  ;D

another 500cc hmmm sounds good, but does it still sound like a screamer. I used to love the sound of BMW's e30 325 engine on song, but am now a complete convert to this wonderfull soundtrack from Vx. :y

"Your car sounds like a beast when you put your foot down" was the comment I got on Saturday from a pension drawing passenger with a huge smile on his face....

I love the sound of my 2.6 - a real puuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr on tickover - & a grrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooowlllllllllllllllllllllllllllll on acceleration, K&N panel filter with Longlife full stainless exhaust, Mild sport version.

A BMW m5 comes along my road every day - foot full of throttle & it sounds like a bag of nails!
