Now Clarkson's in hot water
« on: 04 November 2008, 14:25:13 »

Now JC's in the sh1t for a gag he cracked while driving a lorry on Sunday's episode of TG. I won't mention exactly what it was as there might be some of you that haven't watched it yet. ::)

Taken in the correct perspective I personally didn't find it offensive but OFCOM received 200 complaints. :o

Opinions?........

....especially if it has been one of your daughters/sisters/wife etc.! >:(

Tasteless and 'edgy' humour (?)....whilst funny to many, can also be deeply-deeply offensive.....perhaps that kind of J.C flippant comment might be better left for his Christmas DVD; rather than via our National public service broadcaster. :'(

People have forgotten how to laugh & find everthing offensive.
Hell, say what you like within reason, you can't please everyone, because no one likes it

I think he was sailing a little close to the wind given that people's sensitivity to "overpaid celebrities" being offensive on BBC TV has been inflated by the media over the last week or so.

I'm sure it was deliberate too. ::)

Think Clarkson sails close to the wind anyway probably if there hadn't been all this trouble with Ross nothing would have been said....

Think he deserves a slap on the hand Clarkson

I think the main difference between the Ross/Brand saga and JC is that their jibe was aimed at a specific innocent individual (something I didn't agree with) whereas JC's was not. As you said Daz, not worth more than a slap on the wrist.

I remember thinking the comments were lacking in taste (IMHO) but as Bob points out were not personal in the way the RossBrandgate comments were.   Remember also that it was almost certainly shot before the hooha of the last couple of weeks,   and the BBC/Top Gear editorial team could easily have cut it prior to broadcast so they are at least as culpable.

I admit I winced when I heard that jibe. It was unecessary as he has a great sense of humour without such "edginess".

I think around 9 million! Its the most popular program on BBC2.

FFS which people could just learn to take a joke, sad gits complaining with nothing better to do?

We have some truckers here, and a belive one of them was crying his eyes out in laugher!

Anyone who takes TG or JC seriously is a bloody idiot.
