Large Vauxhall's Supreme
« on: 04 November 2008, 05:43:12 »

Over many years Vauxhall have built some wonderful family cars of the medium to large variety.

Below I list my personal favourites, but if you had the choice of just TWO  (assuming you already have your treasured Omega) which ones would you pick? :-?

OR are there any Classic Vauxhall's I have left out that you would pick instead? :-?

1957 E Series Cresta

c.1960 Victor F Series 2

c1960 Cresta PA

1960 Velox Cresta

1966 Cresta PB

1970 Cresta PC

1971 Vauxhall Viscount 3.3  (An enthusiasts site states one version of the Viscount was fitted with a V8 General Motors engine)   :-* :y)

c.1990 Senator

1. Omega 3.2 Elite Saloon.

2. Omega 3.2 Elite Estate

Seriously I think the Senny would get in there, but the others are not day to day cars and are very dated nowadays IMHO.

1) Monaro Vx 500 (500 bhp of supercharged goodness)

2) Opel Monza

So, none of the above.

I've posted this before, this was similar to my first car, given to me by my father when I past my driving test.

It had leather seats, sun roof, independant front suspension, hydraulic brakes and an OHV engine.

Top speed about 60 mph.

So easy to work on.

Advanced? Which bit? The seperate head lamps from the wings, that probably would have been improved with birthday cake candles? Or the 'suiside doors' at the front?  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

The  bits Andy: sun roof, independant front suspension, hydraulic brakes and an OHV which I understand many cars that were not in the "luxury" bracket, did not enjoy until the mid-1950s as, for instance, cable brakes were still fitted along with single axle front suspension, and as for sunroof's, the cars I went in at the end of the 1950s and early 1960s certainly didn't have them.  Only Rolls Royce engineers at that stage had perfected leak proof sun roofs! ::) ::) ;)

The car in question is a realitively small and cheap 1939 "sit up and beg" motor:-?!

That is how I understand it anyway! ;D ;D ;)
