What a relief.
« on: 10 November 2008, 20:29:02 »

As a few of you will know, my wife is a headteacher in a primary school in Barnsley. She's been there four years now and there have been some difficult times. The school is rated as being in the top 2% of shools in deprived areas, and there are a lot of social issues as well as the usual teaching and learning.
The ofsted team are in today and tomorrow for their inspection and, all things being equal, it looks as though the school will get a "Good with outstanding features".
It's hard for people outside of education to understand exactly how much this means to my wife and, indeed, to the whole family. There are still a lot of people who think it's "nine to three thirty and thirteen weeks a year off". She has worked non-stop for the past four years to get this result, including late nights and weekends, and I am so chuffed I just had to tell you all.

rather auditors.  >:( >:( >:(

American owned medical devices manufacture here so we get
FDA
ISO 13485 (93/42/EEC)
SOX financial compliance
Accounts audits

All of which could shut the business down if we were really bad.

At least the results don't get posted in the media wrapped in a parcel of spin though.   :(

Erm...I wouldn't go that far Pete. I made her tea when she came home, that's enough, surely. :(

Give my congrats to Mrs STMO :y Since coming off the continental trucks 4 n half years ago I've worked in the education sector and know how prized a good OFSTED is and exactly how much hard work goes in to teaching in general. You'd have to pay me double what heads are on now to do their jobs!

Best wish to Mrs STMO mate.
My village pre-school recently was awarded and outstanding from ofsted and we are all so proud of the work the staff there do, and they are only dealing with 20 kids.

Hope all goes really well for the Missus, sounds like she deserves it.  :y
