Sorry to hear your tale of woe

But play your strengths - the class 2 with grab and the digi card are in your favour so ring every agency you know hires HGV and get the word out.  Wouldn't waste time on the old employer as they obviously feel they are in the right and highly inlikely to back down but I would try and negotiate a reaonable reference out of them in return for you letting it drop

I'm not having a go or anything, but I would be pretty cheesed off if someone phoned in and said they weren't coming in because their car was bust. When I worked in Comet at Chester, a lad phoned in who lived in Wrexham saying he was snowed in and couldn't get to work, you should have seen his face when I turned up at his house to pick him up

I can understand his point of view just I think that getting the sack is extremly harsh
