LPG COnversion
« on: 12 November 2008, 23:11:44 »

Hi

I live in Essex and I am thinking about converting to LPG. Can anyone advise on an approximate price. I have th 2.6 CDX V6 Omega

Is this something I can do easily or is it something for the experts. Im a tradesman by trade so resonably switched on.

Please advise

Edd

There are some pictures of my conversion here to give you an idea what's involved:

I'd say not too bad if you're used to working on cars, but not a project to cut your teeth on really.

Cost for the complete kit of parts including a 4 hole tank was £700 for my DIY job. Budget for £2000+ to get a decent equivalent professional  install done.

You mean to say you haven't got an "Edd and Tracy" or similar sun shield across your windscreen, furry dice hanging from the interior mirror and leopard skin covers on your seats? :-? ;D ;D ;)

Living in Essex means if you haven't yet you soon will! :D :D :D ;)

Hi Edd,

Here's a link to the pictures of my conversion. Same kit as Kevin's but on a mini-facelift car so slightly different.

I only live near Ipswich so perhaps we could meet up at some point so you could have a look yourself?

Thanks for the kind words of praise :y :y

It's the same kit that Kevin's got and cost me about £700 for everything for the installation.

I budgeted on saving 10p per mile, so payback is after 7000 miles. However, with the recent drop in the price in petrol I'm not quite saving as much as 10p but it'll still have paid for itself by the time I do 10k (maximum) which will be around the end of February at the latest.

You're more than welcome to have a nose around when it's convenient to meet up... Perhaps we could have a mini meet and get some of the others to come along.
