Bristol and West Mortgages
« on: 17 November 2008, 11:43:38 »

Just telephoned Bristol and West who we have our mortgage with.

"Can you tell me what the Standard Variable Mortgage rate is please?" I ask

"Certainly Sir 6.59%"

"Oh, can you tell me what the SVR was before the 1.5% drop in interest rates?"

"Certainly Sir, 6.59%"

"We have no intention of passing on any reductions at present,"she adds.

Is this the banks way of saying thank you for all the help they've had recently. :o :o :o

Bristol and West.......hang your head in shame.

Some of them should have been left to fry -- trouble is the ramifications would be horrendous

I'm looking forward to the day, in about 16 years, when my daughter is going through the last of her schooling, and the topic in history is "the banking system, 1790-2008" ;D

My understanding was that all the banks had passed on the full 1.5% cut.
But sadly some banks appear to be helping themselves rather than their customers and the economy in general. :-/ :-*

I think that was to do with the last interest rate cut(0.5%)....which they did pass on ........they don't seem so keen to pass on the latest 1.5% cut.....perhaps they will eventually...who knows? :y

there are a few that haven't dropped their rates, which is f****** disgusting since today i've put an offer in for a house

kinda hoping it takes a while for them to decide and the rates might drop in time!!

Well, got a letter saying my Halifax tracker has dropped to 3.89 today. Shame I paid off a lump sum not that long ago.  ::) That money would have been better off elsewhere. >:(
