A bad end to 2006 and a bad start to new year
« on: 31 December 2006, 16:54:53 »

Just been to pick my Mum and Dad up following an accident in terrible conditions and gale force winds on the M8 - a 7 car pile up. :-[

There currently living with me while they build a house and had pondered taking my son and the two dogs too. Good job they didnt.
Main thing is there fine if a big bit shaken.

Dads an advanced driver and ex senior traffic cop... he swerved to avoid a car that pulled out onto middle lane about 6 feet in front of him.

He lost the back end and regained it several times but the car that he was avoiding ran up the arse of another and chaos ensued.

Long and short was that after avoiding several cars another one hit him as he sat 180 degrees facing oncoming traffic.

He will need two new wings, inner wings, headlight(s) both intact but badly chipped, front bumper, bonnet ( bent at corners) and front fogs - car seems to drive, no leaks but havent opened bonnet for fear of it not closing and the airbags didnt deploy, but he is carless now as he cant get a hire one till 02nd!!

Its his brand new car too.

Dad recons he may end up getting charged as essentially he has front damage and it looks like he ran into someone!!!!!

MEAN WHILE the car that caused it left the scene after brief talks with the police and was the only driver NOT brethalysed.

And a tough female cop with a point to prove thretened to charge me as i was taking pictures of the damage. Told her to feel free but she decided against it. She is now subject of a comlaint by me to the chief constable as i also spoke to two others at the scene who want to complain about her! To make matter worse she is actually wearing my Dads old unique shoulder number!!!!!!!!!

Oh and she also DEMANDED my wife ( who was there to take the injured home ) leave. I responded that she would leave when i felt it appropriate and not some wet behind the ears female in a uniform. She was none to happy.

I do have this skill of being to walk that line of being legal and get right up the nose and under the skin of peole that piss me off and she fell into it. Dad had "one of those" conversations with the male cop and her behaviour changed. Hmmmmm.

Strathclyde police is un utter shambles and disgrace if this is the calibre of operative they deem it necessary to appoint and GOD help us all if we need them to defend us en mass.

Happy new year  :'(

Surely he wont be charged Markie. The word of an ex-cop must count for something.

Everyone is OK, thats all that matters (maybe a little damaged pride). Who cares about the tin...

I hope they are not too badly shaken... ...a nice drop of brandy or some malt should steady the nerves...

Not so good, markie.  Glad all are OK.  No doubt between your dad, yourself and the others present who witnessed the incident, all will be resolved OK.  Good no one was seriously hurt.
