Newbies (For Sale)

Not having a go at newbies as we all make mistakes due to not reading the forum guidles.

But just reading through the guidlines would it not be worth Admin adding the post numbers rules to the guidlines for the Cars and Parts relevent posts.  which in turn will be replicated under each section, therefore giving more chance of being read.

Also I picked up on a member wanting to buy a car (not parts) but was subject to the same number of post rules.  Just a thought, could the number of posts for a car Wanted culd be lowered, my thinking here is that anyone buying a car would generally need to do it face to face and wont be doing via ebay or paypal and more often that not be paying cash.  Also address on both sides would be known to each other, not the case of Ebay/Paypal.

Parts as we have all learnt is completely different, and is often done via the postal/courier services and as proved only yesterday the description cabt allways be relied on.

As the cars for sale and cars wanted are in the same section (as is parts sale/wanted) it is not possible to have different postcount rules within same for sale/wanted without splitting the boards into even more sections.  We are currently trying to consolidate the number of boards and sections so as to keep the forum manageable.

It is intended that the matter be discussed further at the Lakes meet but meantime, postcount numbers added to the guidelines sticky at the top of each section.

No argument.

It still needs further discussion though!   ;D

The Admins are going to have a sit around the table at the lakes and discuss if we can find a better way to do this, after which the guidlines post will be modified :)

i wanted to post this i the wanted section but not allowed as i dont have enough posts. so if adm is reading it could you please move it there for me. pretty please and thank you in advance.

Im after a boot spoiler for a 96 mig. not worried about the colour as i can  spray it.
If anyone has one for sale could they let me know and a pic would be nice as well

Thanks Stephen (the duck)

This is one of the typical cheeky posts.

Needs a part, currenly has a post count of 39 and posted in this very section.

HB21 took pity on him and moved to parts for sale/wanted.

I personally have no problem with this at all,

However, there is still the same old niggle still lurking here, this time in reverse order.  Rather than a seller requiring a min of 250 posts to advertise.  we now have a buyer with less than 50.  This now gives the seller with less than 250 posts a chance to create a sale.  Still nothing wrong with that, but still the chance of some leg lifting.

May I suggest this.

I think as a forum, we tend to watch out for each other in general.

Admin have a lot to contend with as the forum is growing on a daily basis, and on occasions it takes time to catch up.

The Duck, as much as I feel he is aware there are risks involved, may not have, like many newbies, taken the time to read the forum rules.

So why dont the forums experianced mebers help out here.

1.  If a brief "statement/quote" was created as a sticky under the sales/wants section.

2.  Then when a newbie posts in a cheeky way against the rule's, wrong section, not enough posts etc.

3.  Then annother user, posts a copy of the "statement/quote" as a reply to the cheeky post.  This saves Admin time.

4.  The"statement/quote" , will contain a link to the do's and dont's and rule's of the sales/want section, and making them aware of the post count scenario and why.

5.  The newbie then responds with in a given time that he understands the rule's along with the risks.

6.  Once he replies that he/she is aware of the post is then moved.  if not, the trhread gets deleted.

A little long winded, but I think you understamd where I am coming from.

Asking for parts I dont feel is the same as selling them, or at least not for my reasoing for the post count scenario.

Autions use a rating system with % rating and customer feedback, the forum just cannot do this,

As a buyer you can make calculated decisions when offered a part, once offered a part publically, any mambers who have issue's with the seller may send a PM to the buyer with a brrief, "in my experiance, be carefull because"....etc

You then have the option to get all his details, send a PO or cheque, or use credit card via Paypal, eash way trying to maintain a degree of security.

The other way, as a seller, they take a paypal payment and your address, both by email, and then you wait in hope.

I have been wronged on one transaction as seen in the sales/wanted read this post, and this was a part I saw for sale on the forum.

I had a very quick turnarround paypal/post delivey on 2 differnt washer jet deals, one partially incomplete as advised, and one brand new one but not the side I required, and I would happily recommend either seller without question. (cheers guys  :y :y :y)

Annother sale was meeting a member in person as wheels are too big to post.  no issues what so ever.  The washers were parts asked for by me, the wheels were a bit of both.

I personally would rather just request the parts as I need them, but on occasions I may take up parts as they become available.  Either way, they may allways be risks, it's just a case of tread carefully and monitor the dituation.

point taken m8, I made a post regarding chris's breaking Elite  "All parts available". I noticed that the NS washer jet was missing and make a joke about how can all parts be available if thats already missing. sirffcgary pm'd me and said he had 1 if I wanted it, replied to the pm and we exchanged addies  he's going on hols but he posted it it and the cheque will be on his doormat when he returns, so yes I agree with what your saying :y

There you go, we now have a 1st time poster offering to undercut other members for a "wanted" item.  No disrespect to buyer or seller, but forum rules and guidlines are not being observed (by either side)
