Sorry Nickbat, but where abouts on this site is the Vulcan video please? :-? ;)

http://www.flightlevel350.com/Aircraft_Avro_Vulcan-Airline_Private_Aviation_Video-10603.html

Have you found it yet, Lizzie?

No I have not thanks Nickbat!  I am clicking all over the site, even where it mentions "vulcan", but not finding any video of it! ::) ::) ::)

If the link doesn't work for you, Lizzie, try the drop-downs from the homepage: Search Videos>Video Index>Aircraft Index>A> Avro Vulcan.  :y

Thanks Nickbat that has worked!

I have just spent some considerable time watching these lovely machines and getting very emotional remembering my childhood back to the Farnborough Air Show in 1959, to Malta during 1962-64 seeing them there constantly, then at airshows and on film since then.   Many happy and very sad memories associated with this aircraft. :'( :'( :'( 8-) 8-) 8-) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

The men who flew them were gorgeous too! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* ;)

Apparently there's also XM655 at Wellesbourne Mountford, wherever that is (!), and it was doing high speed taxi runs as recently as June 2006.

Like the way it sets off the car alarms!  ;D

Yep, still does the fast Taxis at Wellsbourne (just south of Warwick).

She is unusual as she has the more powerful 301 engines fitted!

Could she ever get a certificate of airworthiness or is she destined to live out her days running up and down the strip?

Much bigger job and more cash then required to get XH558 up!

Plus, the lack of servicable 301 power plants will be  BIG issue. XH558 had the 8 last 0 time 201 engines which is a key thing that got her back in the air and will be the one thing that will ground her again.

And Rolls Royce (Bristol) will not , service or re-build them.

Why not?

Good PR I'd say

Many reasons we are told....

1) They no longer have the expertise
2) They no longer have the tooling
3) They no longer have the parts.

The best they can do is offer an inspection to assess the condition and as a result extend the flying hours (they are actualy rated in cycles)

Should be able to re-furb and re-make most items of a diesel unit though.

Even if you could get the parts made for a 201 or 301.....without Rolls Royce underwriting thier use then you cant use them for flight sadly....and they wont do that unless they made them

That is pretty bad really - especially as RR are supposed to like their heritage (or is it because it is Bristol)
