M62 Deathwish

Heading home from Winnington (Northwich) this afternoon Bradford area a Sprinter size box van was crawling along the hard shoulder indicating to pull out. I'm in the inside lane, my truck sits on the limiter @ 57/58mph. Cars in the centre lane are passing me on my right. I can gross 44t but was 37 ish (enough). He won't i thought, he'll build up speed before rejoining the carriageway...did he break. Straight out in front of me!!! I anchored up that hard i got 5th wheel bang that hard it shook the cab. (some of you will know what i mean but it's BAD) Just before hitting him i came off the brake & used the hard shoulder to avoid the cretin, there was smoke, horns & flashing headlights from other vehicles behind me who nearly hit him themselves. That should've been a proper pile up.
I wonder if this bloke realizes how lucky his family are to have the husband/Daddy with them this Xmas. :-?

Glad to hear you're OK  :y :y :y   .... your cab into the back of him wouldn't have done you much good either .. :(

Prats like that don't realise what they are doing ... I wonder how  many would have ploughed into the back of you if you had actually hit him ...

doesn't bear thinking about ....  :(

in a vehicle the size of yours the SAFEST thing to have done would have been to RAM THE F*****R off the carriageway, steering your wagon slightly to the right on impact thus forcing his little van towards the shoulder!

every single day, and usually no more than 5 minutes apart, i see thousands of thousands of drivers who should NEVER be allowed to drive and its a wonder they have licenses

...and thats just in a 10 mile radius of my home

I'm sorry guys .. but I fail to see how suggesting ramming anyone at 50 mph can ever be considered a "safe"  procedure.

It is pure stupidity to even think it.

And before you all start on about how you can do it safely ... b*****ks.

There are so many possibilities that could occur on contact that you haven't got a clue what would happen, and you would probably take out a whole load of innocent folks as well.

break me!

You got Christmas early I would say. I know it would have been his fault but you, with your 37t and expected high driving standards, would have been the one explaining it for months to come. If not charged with DC&A just in case you might have snoozed off.....

Good skills and a right result.

Happy Christmas.  :y

My daughter and I were out visiting and shopping today and went from Stockton to Darlington along the A66. Perfect driving conditions and noticed flashing lights ahead.

An accident, goodness knows how it happened but one car was well into the verge, several feet, with front end stoved in and a second car in the field, couldn’t see where the damage was but could only assume one car had run up the back on another and both ended up well off the road, no junctions.  ::)

Could see kids standing around so did not look too serious, just the distance from the road that shocked us.
Conditions were perfect, not low sun in that direction, just beggars believe as to how some accidents happen............. :(

..and if (as I recently saw on Road Wars), there is an unrestrained infant in the van, how would you feel then when he/she shoots through the windscreen?  :-?

Impacts should be avoided. Period.
