My merc Viano already has a speed limiter......which is turned off....no point turning it on really.....coz according to the speed limit choices it gives me on the display are 100mph/110mph/120mph/130mph/140mph and 150mph  ;D ;D

Carnt see it getting above 110/120mph tbh.....its only got a 2.2td in it  ::) ::)

I havent pushed it more than 70mph....75mph......coz it likes diesel too much....when you get to motorway speeds   ::)

Serial Speeders, or those caught doing stupid speeds through residentials/past schools & the likes I reckon it should be compulsory...

But I wonder if there version of 'Voluntary' will be like the Manchester Congestion Con, where they were like, Vote Yes and get 3billion to buy a bus... Vote No, get f**k all from us...

This will be - Have one fitted, get cheaper VED (as if), don't have one, VED goes up 500%...

Although, would be interesting to see how speeding convictions are affected, especially also if the system is up datable to take into account temporary limits due to roadworks & such...

*edit*

Also, I can see this only being applicable/usable on DBW cars...

Me too or me not ;)
I go as fast as like & i tell to get out & walk if they don't like it ;D

So it may have an over ride system installed, that's all well & good, but when you put your foot down to overtake vehicle & stray over the limit, then receive a fine, because they know just when, where & how fast.
They are all so obsessed with speeding, it makes me sick, do these arses ever travel abroad (i guess they have their eyes closed, more like head up their arses) & see how they drive. They are mental, we in this country have some of the safest drivers with alot less accidents than other EU/Worldwide countries. Ok we're not perfect, but no one is.
This is why i don't drive much, i used to love driving, but now it's just a chore >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

The biggest problem is that its not speed that causes accidents... When will they realize that?!?  :-? :(

No I wouldn't but I think once say 1 in 30 vehicles had got them then if the traffic density is high then everyone else would be "stuck" at the limited speeds with no opportunity to get by cos the traffic coming the other way would be similarly held up.

Funnily enough since living in Spain which has lots of open, empty  good driving roads (apart from the city centre type places), I have adopted the speeds of the locals. They make Captain Slow off Top gear seem like Fangio! Maybe it is living in stressed up Britain that drives people to speed?

My averyday car is a Citroen C4 picasso 7 seat thing and it has a speed limiter fitted which I can set to any speed I like. Only use it sometimes, more recently on 50 MPH roadworks on the motorway, lazey really just means I dont have to think about it or worry about the speed cameras......... ;D ;D ;D

I believe for the self employed some sort of self income tax declaration system is in place. Maybe those who know best should allow us to enter any road misdemeanors we may have committed to a website at the end of each driving day so we could await our fines, points, bans with glee. Thus doing away with the need for cameras, police everything really........!!!! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
