I did some stewarding at the last British GP, ended up in front of the crowd, 30 yards from the start/finish line when Hamilton crossed to win after a superb drive.
What an experience that was and what a fantastic year he had.
I do agree with some of the thoughts on the subject however.
IMO the olympic athletes should the receive the recognition they fully deserve for their fantastic achievements, but I question that this the vehicle to do it?
An MBE at 14 for Eleanor Simmonds, whatever the achievement, makes something of a mockery of the whole honours list, given that there are no doubt thousands of people out there who have done fantastic work all their lives without any recognition at all.
I should say that I have absolutely nothing against Eleanor, heaven knows what she has had to overcome to achieve what she has, I've just sited her as the youngest recipient, as an example.
