Heard on the radio that the government are trying to make it compulsory for us to insure every vehicle we own, even if its a scrapper in the driveway!, we can expect a £100 fine and/or the vehicle being crushed.

how the hell is this going to work? as for insurance to be valid you need to have an MOT and Tax. this is taking the pi55, all cos of the stupid minority that drive without insurance, we all have to pay out instead.

 

I currently own 5 cars altogether, all in my name, 2 are insured fully comp and mot'd and taxed, I hav to have them on seperate insurance policies cos Norwich Union dont do multi car, so am I now going to have to get 5 policies?

I thought it was the other way around. i.e. you buy your insurance first, MOT and then road tax. Because you can drive to the MOT station (pre booked appointment) without road tax but not insurance.  :-/

yeah but for them to pay out (the whole point of having insurance) the insured car has to be mot'd and taxed. so if my insured scrapper went on fire do you think they would cough up? I doubt it!!

No it doesn't. You could insure your classic E type in your heated garage for example for fire & theft.

You can insure without tax or Mot -- but if you drive without either the insurance is invalid as you are driving "other than in accordance with ...."

I would imagine, if this hare-brained scheme goes ahead, there will be special insurance classes for it.  But, what are we insuring against, other than theft and that's our risk

You could insure your classic E type in your heated garage for example for fire & theft.

but look at the cost of having to do that? is it acceptable that we take out one of these policies for a 100 quid car thats getting stripped? not quite in the same legue as th e-type

by me saying the car has to be mot'd and taxed I mean it has to be to use it on the road, but I have no intentions of using my other 3 cars on the road until all the work has been carried out and they are ready to use. so im going to have to be insuring cars that are going nowhere anytime soon.

I think you will be able to sent off the SORN to say car is not going to be usd on the road Then you don't need to get insurance.

the govt want every bit of money you have, they want to own the banks, the companies everything that is available to take control of they want. then they will run them how they feel fit to do so they will make the public suffer as much as possible until they are in total control of everything,  then in a few yrs it will be one big sale yet again. probably on e bay

If you're scrapping the vehicle, then post the reg doc off to DVLA
& state the vehicle's been scrapped & then there's nothing to pay. Then just get rid as of when, they aint gonna pop round & check

my car will be off the rd in feb, be breaked if i pay a fine, i will let it go to court. they cant take what i havent got. its getting way beyond a joke now whats going on here. dont you feel you'd like to go up to brown and just beat him senseless till he dies

they prolly want you insured just in case someone comes on to your private land, without permission, where they shouldnt be and injure themself trying to steal from your vehicle without your permission on your land where they shouldn't be!!

course its your responsibitlity to protect people who are on your land stealing from your vehicle that is on your land where THEY SHOULDN'T oppsING BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
next election, i suggest you use yr vote and vote for your dog as a better alternative to the shower that are ruining the country!!
