pcmcia card nelp

I bought a pcmcia to serial card for my laptop hoping it would enable me to use
my Opel Autoscanner, the scanner works but is not happy with a usb to serial.

Can nothing through it?

Tried a mouse on the pcmcia to serial that does not  work either.


Xp device manager shows it as comm port2 - working ok

Most scanners I've come across will only operate through Com1.  Some are just buggy.  :-/

Yep, some also require a 'real' com port. A lot of the software refuses to work though PCMCIA or USB adaptors, you need a real com port  :(

Look at properties of port - is the i/o on 2f8h or 3f8h?

Not all pcmcia serial cards work with scanners.  One that works with many other scanners is the Quatech SPP100, not cheap though.

that has I/O range FE00 - FEFF   & I/O FD00 - FDFF    IRQ 11

Change it button is greyed out ?

The com port does not show any I/O setttings ?

Its the COM port settings. So has no i/o range? Oh dear.
