TBH I think fords and vauxhalls of that era were rustproofed in a similar manner.
Repeatedly dipped in brine before spraying. ;D

I do remember though that both cars had really good gearboxess, so smooth and you could easily change gear without using the clutch :y

They have always had trouble with Rust, crap double skin which alows crap inbetween and rots!  >:(

First car I drove was the old chap's victor, was more concerned about not crashing into a dry stone wall than changing gear as he was sat beside me at the time.
I must have been all of about 12 at the time.
