Full tank +ca50kg in the boot, start from 2nd gear and release clutch ASAP, don't use too much throttle and most important - winter tires.  ::)

Looks like i will be driving to the station in snow again!

Any tips? I don't have TC being a 2.2 and its a manual....

It did do well on Friday with the heavy snow, but i found changing from 2nd to 1st at 15mph was not a good idea, as i kicked the back end out. Best just to take foot of the gas and roll to a stop?

As for pulling off i have been using 1st, had no serious problems so far, is it best to pull of in 2nd (i think the snowflake button for autos forces it to pull of in 2nd?)
I know every must be done super smooth and super slow.

I think tomorrow morning, to give me better traction is put my big 3 ton jack in the boot, with a couple of boxes of books (luckly having a loft clearance and there are some heavy boxes in the garage!)

waste of time ,it makes no difference at all  ::) ::)

Of course it does!  :-? you still can't just plant your foot down though, there's still 200 bhp trying to get out!
I have still spun my Senator 180 in 3rd while being very gentle with the throttle though.

Go fill it with fuel, thats extra weight.  Just drive sensible, pull away in high gear if necessary.

I've found the best way out of town for be is halse road > high street > buckingham road, to a43.

Turn the TC off. You will get a better feel for your available grip. Which will be a tiny bit more than break all.

Aim to use the brakes so the ABS doesn't kick in (unless it's an emergency). Same reason.

One you know the available grip, aim to stay within that at all times... Sounds easy. Most of the time it is about creating space on the road to brake, corner and accelerate at the correct (and very slow) speeds.

And, if you get confident, the speedo is driven off the drive train. So it's possible to get the back doing 45 while the front is doing 15... LOL. But don't try that though  :y

Edit - just re-read and you don't have TC... That's a good start. I stand by the sentiment in the post though. It is about finding out what the available grip is and staying within it at all times.

The Auto takes off in third with the snowflake button. It doesn't give you much more than an excuse for a lazy right foot in the 3.0, it will still spin up given enough provocation...

be careful on corners and if you skate dont use brakes and give contra in the direction of the back of car..

and for emergency cases take some newspapers with you..you can lay them under the wheels if you are stuck..

Well, it's on the rear then. The front of the car (in fact all but the engine and drivetrain) was doing 15mph when the speedo blipped up to 45...
