ebay do my head in sometimes!!
« on: 25 February 2009, 14:42:36 »

They have just pulled an auction off because I wrote advertised elswere on the listing, instead of just asking me to change it. I have seen that written on loads of auctions!!

it said we have removed your listing because it breached our Inappropriate Seller Terms policy.

They better not charge me to relist the b*@*~*^ds

That is correct. And the right thing for them to do.

You get your listing fee back on a pulled auction

the wording implied you may pull it at the last minute (ie, 'sell elsewhere' aka not get what you wanted for item ;)).

The rules of ebay say that an auction must be allowed to run to completion

That wasn't my intention but why is it, people use it all the time and their auctions don't get pulled?

They do, trust me... ...but only if they know about them  :-X

idea is, ebay is like a normal auction house.  Once you've submitted your item, thats it, its sells at its price on the day (or not at all).

Can't imagine Witney Car Auctions being happy if halfway through bidding on my car, I get them to stop as I'd sold it elsewhere ;)

I understand what you mean but you see it all the time with cars on ebay, people also have it in auto trader etc. I know its not best practice but people still do it.

it wouldnt be so bad if they just emailed asking you to change it, takes so bloody long to upload your pictures when relisting.

Well I have been charged twice!! Only because I relisted it twice, the first was accidental. I am hoping they might take pity and refund one of the listing fee's.

Not holding my breath though!!  :'( :'( :'(

Chances are you were reported by someone with nothing better to do.  If not reported they won't pull it as they just have too many listings to police themselves.

We get it a lot, selling cosmetics, with other sellers trying to scupper us!
Apparently, for an unexplained reason, we are not allowed to use the word "Platinum" in the description .... that gets picked up automatically by one of their filters -- but "Platnum" gets through  ::)

they also seemed to have tightened up on sellers putting XXX not YYY in the title eg 'Vauxhall NOT BMW, Mercedes', which I found bloody annoying.   If I search for Vauxhall its because I want one, not an effing BMW..
