Maximum Power 142PS / 140bhp / 104kW @ 6,000 rpm
Maximum Torque 200Nm / 147ft.lbf @ 2,500 rpm

I love the look of those!

I was in a dealer a while back when it was newly out, and they were making one road legal again (lights/indicators) after a young lad in the dealers tried to play dominoes with it! :o  :y

Hmm..an aquired taste possibly, but yep, what a motor.
It's a lump of a bike but surprisingly nimble. Played merry hell with my mates on their R1's and Blades.
Time after time they'd be convinced they'd have me as we would enter a bend, seeing as it's such a lumpy old thing, but once at the apex it was just a case of nailing the throttle open and it was gone.
Real grin factor with that one :y

Zx6 car pulled out sold
Firestorm(rubbish, really was)
Vfr750 hired for ages, felt like i owned it
Zx9 van(van writen off) pulled out,car pulled out, right off.
Cbr600 track bike (took the hint)sold
Gsxr1000(rubbish)track bike, sold

Want the new blade, ugly face and all.

Would rather a zx12 than blackbird in that category if i ever get back on the road/grow up, so not likely.

Ok, not a cutting edge sports bike, but I wouldn't say it was rubbish. I've only had the odd run on one but I found it a very "user friendly" forgiving bike, just not a hyper sports bike jobbie.

Trouble was it was hyped as a rival to the Ducati 916, so only going to be a flop in that company.
Swing arm/frame design could not cope, twisted the swing arm spacers round due to flex, meaning it would nip up, seize in effect. Then they did it proper with the sp1 and 2 iirc?

Fair point. Don't remember the promo hype. True, both the SP1/2 are different animals. Having a V twin engine, the letters VTR in the name and two wheels is as far as the similarities go, but it's not that bad. I suppose it's what I'd call a "nice" bike.

Seem to remember the japs in a strop with Ducati winning world supers all the time with an "unfair advantage" in capacity. So japs thought they would try the twins as well. Remember the TL1000 and the following S model? Honda came closest. When they had the same unfair advantage they STILL couldnt beat Ducati. The storm, TL and following S model where all part of that Japanese sulk iirc. Soon went back to the 4 cylinders, and they are still moaning about vtwin engine size now. Sad!
Still, ya pays ya money, ya takes ya choice, as they say. :-)

I ride* an old ZX10 (not the newer mental ZX10R).  Good, cheap, fast enough, scary.

* If you can call sliding down the road after it 'riding'
0-100mph + in 1st gear.truly mental  :) ::) :)

Colin Edwards actually won the WSB championship on the Honda v twin, they had to get Haga(a riding god imo)disqaulified in order to do it though,so it left a very sour taste with the fans. :y

I have to confess that I do own a Goldwing! A 1987 GL1200IH that I have had for 20 years. Having toured Europe on just about every kind of bike you can imagine I bought the Wing 20 years ago to be able to tour in comfort. If you are into serious touring there realy is no better bike.
