One close friend from job have Mondeo..

Not bad but nothing special..

imho if size is important replacement for a miggy can be 5 series BMW, Volvo S60 series (T5 models really fast)  , Subaru Legacy or Toyota Camry.. All are good cars..

and if you want performance for cheap and something you can play with, check for Scooby WRX series ..

Don't do it!!!!

Get a nice Omega estate. You know what you're doing and looking for and they're worth pennies at the moment :y :y :y

Got to agree. Can't think of anything else where you can have so much car for so little money, paying for the badge on a lot of cars :y

I have to say, I dont know.....not much out there these days in the 'larger' category.

Lexus - Needs to be a big one as the IS200 range is rather tiny with no head room

Audi A4 - As above, no head room, small interior and a load capacity smaller than an Astra.

Pity no Jaguar estate
I think there is one, seem to remember Clarkson skiing behind one on TG a few series ago. :-/

Mondeo based not a real Jaguar

New or nearly new cars feel sanitized & soulless. On top of the depreciation you have to main dealer stamp the service book @ huge prices to save losing even more. In a year or two's time it'll be worth half what you paid & still be too clinical & devoid of character for you to "love it" You could take advantage of the credit crunch & bag a cheap ex demo for a good discount as dealers are struggling, but i still would'nt do it. In 5 years time it'll hardly be worth a couple of grand, the market's flooded with 'em. Gun to my head i'd look for a nice Merc estate. Doubt you'll find an active forum for such a mundane car.
I politely suggest you go onto the gallery, look at Broocie's (Hotel 21) new baby & have a long hard think!!! It's your money mate. ::) :y

What will kill Omegas will be spares availability.

Don't tend to rust too much, take high mileages.

Just needs a couple of parts to become non available (and noone takes on manufacture) and the number will plummet.
