if the locking mechanism was broken then you couldnt lock it but you could shut it, however if the catch mechanism was broken then you wouldnt be able to shut the door!!!

No. Please. Arrgghh. The door is closed, lock is engaged, but door wont open because the mechanism is broken. How would you get it open to get the card off to fix it....

Right. Now we're getting somewhere. No, it is not a genuine problem, just something that occured to me in the cold and wet the other morning, so please do not post the solution. I was just very curious as to how I could fix the wifes car if the lock had not released itself when it thawed out.

Now that I know that there IS a solution, I feel safe in the knowledge that I can ask if it ever does happen :y

Good advice, I think part of the enjoyment of the Senator for me is because I just chill with it.

Its worth 300 quid, I rag it about park where ever i want (not bothered about door dents in car parks) leaving it unlocked ect...

It really makes things more enjoyable not caring about things  :)

The answer is so simple it can be answered with another question

What were you doing up at 6:45?

Dont be going all cryptic on me Gwilym, just spill the beans :(

If you weren't up at 6.45 then it wouldn't be so cold, the lock would not be frozen, the problem would not have occured and you wouldn't have wondered how to fix it. Having not wondered about fixing it you don't have to worry about the answer.

Problem Solved

You idiot! ;D

I take it you found my answer helpful then ;D
