change oil every other tank of petrol(well almost) and clean breather system with monotonous regularity, just to try to get the oil to stay inside the engine.
The sort of strict maintenance regime that was common in the 50,s and 60,s,when it was accepted that you spent almost as much time working on a car as you did driving it.
Funnily enough I owned the Sennie twice as long as I have had the Omega and apart from regular oil/filter changes the only thing that ever went wrong with it was a relay had to be changed.
My previous car was an '89 Senator 3.0L CD. Owned for six years, only needed pads, oil, filters plugs, routine maintenance stuff...
Bought an Omega cos chassis parts are very much the same, so expecting a relatively sturdy and reliable car...Until reading forums like this one, indicating so many faults and maintenance jobs centering around the engine in particular...!!
Ive had my Omega about a month, so in fairness will give it a chance, but so far my problems seem related to bad quality DIY, such as things left loose, and incorrectly finished... :-/
