I paid £125 but that was in the sale which ended on the 15th of January but the normal price is £150 and it took about 10 minutes to fit and you just take the ECU out of the fuse/relay box at the side of the battery, undo the cable clip and disconnect the cable, prise back the cover tags and pull the chip out and push the new one in and reverse the process to put everything back.

Not quite correct mate, chips are available for ANY Omega with the following engines:

2.5 / 3.0

Not available for:

2.0 / 2.2 / 2.6 / 3.2

Its something to do with the newer engines which makes them much less 'chip able'  i think Vaux got the most out of them really (2.2 2.6 3.2) although i think this is one for MarksDTM to reply to really...

Tunnie, you don't need to de-cat the Senator to chip it. We didn't and the difference was impressive (especially over 4krpm!)

It's probably more to do with the newer chips being surface mounted rather than socketed, as it's more reliable and cheaper to manufacture. It will have a flashable EEPROM instead that can probably be reprogrammed through the diag socket. So just as "chippable", except you don't do it with a chip ;). In addition to having the appropriate hardware to do remaps, there are almost certainly some additional obstacles to overcome such as checksums etc. Hence why it's much more common to find replacement chips for socketed ECUs than remaps for EEPROM ones.
