I`m not going to get involved in this - dont really know what its about.

But a bit of history.

The actions of a mindless few caused a split elsewhere. The actions of a few mindless people here may do the same. Frankly the admin team dont need what seems to have been directed at them.

Certain members of The admin team, to those that were not here from the beginning, are direcly responsible for the creation of this site - there not voted in, they didnt inherit or volunteer.....They physically created this place!!

Jamie and Mark DTM your work here wont ever be forgotten by those of us that followed you over from "the darkside"

H21 and AA your work is appreciated and not ever taken for granted.

Now, anyone want to buy a decent car...... :D

Well said that man :y. The action taken was required and was initiated in a professional manner no different to accounts being administrated in a work environment or the likes of BEBO when things get shi**y.
The mass exodus from the darkside left the Omega owning community in disarray for a while and to date it has never really recovered fully although certain admins sill nip back in to give advice as members and good on them for it.

I've saying my bit as a member who is no longer an owner and will only be nipping in now and again so I'll say what I mean without worry about my post count being cut or being accused of brown nosing -

Mark and TB and a small percentage of other members have not built their counts purely by contributing to the welcome etc one word threads which rocket individuals to great heights within the nobility, check back on the technical detail provided and think about who provides a service to the ownership of the particular marque before slating them.

Abuse it, you lose it.

Steve

Sorry to prolong the thread guys/girls, but can only echo much of what Entwood and others have said. Have been on the OOF for about a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here with both helpful advice and friendly banter. Have nothing but admiration for both the Admins who give so much of their time to it and also to many of the regulars but its all gone a little silly lately with the banter slipping into personal abuse for which I for one have little time. Please lets back to just having some fun on the "chat" threads (as well as the discussions of more serious topical subjects) and continue to share the wealth of knowledge that is on here regarding our beloved migs. :y

Very interesting that TB confirmed my hunch over PMs - all they needed was the threat.

There is no need for any nastyness.

As said at the start of my post yesterday.......................TB and the Admin team do a great job overall...............excellent in some respects........and deserve credit for their ceaseless efforts
It is now well documented that I ....and some others ...........are very much against the PM privacy issue..........I stand by that.
But despite these differences...................well done to TB and the Admin team. :y :y :y :y

Fully agreed again Optimist in all respects! :y :y :y :y :y

But, I know globally that all "private" communications may not be in 2009 (as it was back in 1990, it has just got worse) and everything is monitored at all levels as I've said.

This doesn't justify private communication and general actions being monitored by third parties, but in the current political climate in the western world (especially the UK) normal freedoms of the liberal society is taking second place to the needs for national security.  Although at last a review is being undertaken to assess exactly why councils are using so much surveillance for "the greater good" of some utilitarian society.

I have for a long time decided not to put anything in an e-mail or telephone conversation without considering who may read or listen to it.   As I know senior police officers even have to be ultra careful what they discuss on their mobile telephones or put in e-mails when working alongside MI5.   That point I can discuss no more than that.

We all now live in that environment, that is far from the 1950's, and coming down to the mundane subject of the OOF, we either go along with the Admins monitoring our PM's or not.  Personal choice of course.  As frequently said many times before the Admins run the site by a lot of hard work, dedication and commitment, trying to keep some factions apart, which should not be necessary.  So, if they need to use monitoring methods to control the forum they are legally and morally responsible for, so be it.

It is a great free site, worth every effort to keep things singing along.

That's my final outlook on this matter. ;) ;) ;)

Peace and love to all! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :D :D

They are all good services and have their plus and minus  bitz.

I have found YIM handy for when I buy something.  I put a note on the calender to remind me that the warrnty is nearly up.

For example.  If you buy a warranty from Richer sounds, if you dont make a claim you get your money back on the warrnty, how many of us remember to claim it back. :-X

Agreed Lizzie................and I hardly think that we can use the "national security "argument......... here at OOF.
But as you rightly say.......and I concur.............OOF is a great free site ............with many good points. :y :y :y

Tis free as in a messenger service, and VOIP from PC to PC is free.  To a landlaine or mobile they do charge but it is cheap, especially calls abroad to a landline. :y

Thanks Optimist. :y :y

I was just making the point that questioning what is really private and treated as such by society in general has changed to what we have in 2009.  The psychology of us all has therefore been affected by it at all levels, without many perhaps realising it is so. :( :( ;) ;)
