.......was spotted today in Ashford being driven by an old girl, bless her.

It was an 'S' reg., the 1977 variety, with the Leyland Badge so had ceased to be called the Austin Maxi officially. 8-) 8-) 8-)  Talk about a blast from the past, and to think many raved over it!

This one showed no rust ( ) and its air / / hydro elastic suspension  (that is what they had didn't they??) looked ok, but the bumpers had been bumped a few times!  Even so a good example of a car that should have rotted away years ago.

Whilst on cars around Ashford, there has been a sudden influx of Omega's, with five different ones recently seen (LSG's and mines excluded!) including a nice looking grey facelift 2.5 CDX parked outside my flats.   They are coming to the right place for some more OOF members...........anyone on here own any of those around Ashford, Kent? :-? :-?

Seen the V-reg silver facelift yet CDX, thats a nice one too. I think you may live near me Lizzie, if your flats are the one's I'm thinking of.

Yes, Cressfield .  The silver and the green one (not mine, although that's as good!! ) are certainly nice examples.  There was also a 2003 3.2 Green Elite over in the outlet centre that I would love to buy.  I just never manage to see the drivers to talk about the OOF, selling, or anything else!!

Do you also remember the 'up market' version, the Wolsley Vandam Plai 1100?**  My dad got very excited once in 1968 over a brand new one; could never see why!!

 i had a n reg austin maxi hl .then i had a wollsley think it was 1500 .it was automatic the suspension went on the nearside and i had to have it pumped up think it was hydro elastic .like driving a tank then i went on to a triumph 2.5 pi.it was an estate ,one of the fastest cars i have ever driven .the cops had the salloons .nice motor,you don't see any nowdays.

lololol the quickest power upgrade on a SD1 3500 rover was down the scrappy and find 2 1750 motors whip the needles out of the carbs and rush home and fit them to the SD1 carbs!! the performance was increased very nicely! for pennies!!!!
