There seems to be a massive increase in the amount of "masked swearing" on the forum .. you  know .. using * 0 etc to replace one letter just to avoid the profanity filter.

The question is .. why ???

The English language has more than sufficient words to express feelings adequately without insulting/being rude to everyone else on the forum.

Now some of the more vociferous will pipe up "if you don't like it don't read it" ... somewhat impossible methinks ...

Whatever happened to manners and consideration ???

I am guilty to some extent, and I apologise  :-[  However I do not use the * to dodge the profanity filter --- guessing that my mild swearing wouldn't even trigger it ... usually Bl**dy --- let's try it ... bloody ... see  :)

I use them purely because I do not normally swear in mixed company and it's a written way to signify that it is a word muttered under my breath.

However, point taken and I will stop that particular practice ( as long as I remember).

Can we try and keep this thread on topic please, and serious, as judging by complaints the Admin team have received, this is obviously a serious issue to some

Sorry TB .. I didn't know this had been raised in any other manner.  I just felt that what I have seen recently

a) Detracts from the friendly "feel" the forum should/used to have

b) Is particularly rude to female members, most of whom do NOT swear like troopers, and anyway most men don't swear in mixed company.

c) Leads to more antagonism in threads that are getting highly charged over minor matters anyway.

If you need a swear word and cannot think of a suitable word to use, a bunch of asterisks (wildcards) should be fine, people can then use their own word in there.
