I found Tesco to be cheapest (around £320 FC) until I made a claim (not my fault but still pending) & my premium shot up. With Equity Red Star now (through a specialist broker). They took me on at the same premium even with a claim pending & 3pts & will refund the difference if I win.

I think the younger you are the more they shaft you!!!   My old man's just about fosilised and he pay's the same as me. Difference is I only insure the omega and he insures 3 cars for the same amount!!!  Granted 2 of them are yank tanks and the others a renault, but hey..... No body's perfect!!!

So by the time you can afford to insure your motor without putting yourself into poverty, You'll either be too old and knackered to enjoy it or dead.    Though I'd share my sinical point of view  :D

Do I sound like an old nag???  :-/ :-/

True, but sad fact remains that you have less expensive accidents as you get more and more experience...

In theory!!!  Old man ran his last laguna straight into the back of someone... Total rightoff!!!

Quite amusing now after the old, no substitue for experience son, speach about driving!!    Like some more ketchup for that humble pie dad??   ;D ;D

It just frustrates me when you see these 80 year old snail drivers on the road who can't see past the bonnet, near miss everything in sight and cause 20 mile tailbacks because the marbles have gone and they can't remeber which pedal is the accelerator!!!  And oh, guess what... you spend more on a sandwich than they do for a years insurance.  >:( >:(

The Omega can be a bit expensive insure because its a group 17 car :o but im with Directline as well.

Thought the Elite 3.0 was group 15?

What model are you referring to?

My mistake, according to Parkers and Glass's guides the 3.0MV6 is group 16 its the 3.2 thats group 17 :-[

I'm 36 , 8 years NCB and paid £330 FC with Norwich Union on my 2.5 cdx.  When i was changing the car, i ran a few quotes through confused.com, and having a 3.0 was only a few quid more expensive.

Just don't get the Irish lads on this thread - their insurance is in 4 figures always  :(

I'm 23 with 7 years NCB and 3 points for speeding.

I've just got some quotes for renewal (hard to tell with current policy as I changed cars in the middle of it) and Quinn Direct come up as the cheapest at £390 TPFT with protected NCB.
