Whatever you do, under no circumstances should you buy a petrol Rover 75. Diesel yes, petrol no. You have been warned.

Sorry mate but that is your opinion......we had one for 17000 miles and it never missed a beat.......

Ive a mate whos got a 02 plate estate with the bmw diesel engine. He runs it as a taxi, had it 3 years and loves it. says hes never had a problem with it. nice interior as well.

Not too keen on the shape of the 75 estate -- but I am a picky old sod  ::)

It is likely the HG will fail soon.  Good fast cars, let down by an engine that, during the BMW years, never got the development it required. Shame, as the HG problem was resolved quickly as soon as BMW were out of the way, and the engine (despite being 20yrs old) is a match for any other simialr engine on both power and emiissions.

Good confortable well made car so long as you avoid the 1.8 petrol engine as they have the typical K-series head gasket issues.
The BMW diesel is very refined but not that quick, while the v6s are rev hungry and thirsty but very smooth.
As for parts and service all I can say is it was bad when I had my 200 3 years ago! So I doubt its any better now, although ebay and such is places can help with the parts and an good independant or a haynes manual will probably do a better job then the rover dealerships ever did! :( Lots of modern electrical equipment in the 75 so check it all works too! :y
