Someone was smiling on me today....
« on: 29 July 2009, 15:18:17 »

Got up early this morning to change my lifters. All was going fine, got the new ones in, put the timing belt on (first one I've ever done) and while putting on the cam cover using a small ratchet and socket, taking the socket off one of the screws the socket came off the ratchet and down the first plug hole WITH NO PLUG IN IT :o :-[

It stoped and was lying at an angle just where the plug hole gets narrow for the plug threads. It was narrow enough to have gone down but then there was some divine intervension :-[

At least all is fine now and she's running nice and quietly :)

The really bad news is when you drop something down the plug hole and don't notice, then start the tinker up! :o :o :o

On the VERY rare occassion I have a plug out, from a habit developed when I did used to tinker (back when you didn't need a degree in electronics and be a contortionist), I stuff a rag over the hole -- cos with my luck anything I drop smaller than an elephant woulg go down that orifice!!!!
