If you stand arms outstretched to the side (crucifix style) then middle fingertip to middle fingertip is exactly the same as your height.

If you look at a mans left hand near the wrist is an upside down V, from the point of that V to the tip of the middle finger is a man's downstairs size

Not always. My partner has an extremely rare connective tissue disorder and her arm span is much longer than her height! Doctor reckons it is something to do with her condition! I think its so she can get her arms round me properly!

That's rubbish! From the 'V' to the tip of my middle finger is 7" and my old man is only 2", so there!
