interesting theory....i haven't had a chance to look at a paper today tho  :-/

i'm sure DC will say all the right things - but theres appears to be some priority with getting cheap and easy votes by targetting society's poorest (and typically non-voters), while gently warning their mates in the city to behave - or we'll nudge up a tax on them (which any half decent corporate accountant would avoid anyway) but i'll wait on old worm-face and see how much his snake oil costs 

....where is the theory bj, surely someone who wishes to be 'fair and balanced' - your words from an earlier post - would want to be fully acquainted with relevant facts before coming to well considered conclusions rather than those seemingly based on naked class prejudice :-/ :-/

So the idea of an intelligent, well educated person acting responsibly is now seen as an odious crime

Perhaps the "Ay lad, canst thou hear me at back, wilst thou fetch us a pint" type is more suiting to some ??

Explains a lot as to why/how the country is in such a mess I suppose ... politics of envy ... so lets vote in the thickest idiots instead.... 

theres this horrendous myth perpetuated that because you're rich and have had the benefit of public education that you're somehow more intelligent - disproved by Princess Di of course - best schools money could by and thick as two short planks she was 

So his attending Oxford (St Magdalens) University (one of the hardest to get into) and obtaining an upper second degree is also being ignored

Methinks you should do some actual research before pontificating ...

As already stated .. he didn't ....

sorry he went to St Pauls - he's an old St Paulian - (one the the original 9 public schools, along with charterhouse, harrow, eton winchester college, etc) 400 years of serving the nation i'm sure 

i'm sure if it was a comprehensive, and his dad was a plumber he'd of still been accepted

put politics aside Zulu - you're a decent, intelligent, compassionate person in my view...now - doesn't it grate just a little that these landed gentry who've never had to work a day in their lives if they didn't want to have the temerity to take money off someone who gets a few quid a week on benefits (so what if some are cheating - the amount they steal wouldn't make a dent in what we gave to the banks)? pay freezes for civil servants?

that doesn't grate - just a little? you think any of these old etonians have worried about a bill dropping through the letter box?

...it doesn't grate on me at all bj and I don't think the need to address the confused and unbalanced welfare system can be described as an elitist Etonian plot to deny those in need the assistance they require.

All this fuss and fighting, I don't really do politics and certainly not a local level, in that  vote on policies and evidence.

I am simply waiting for GB to be replaced then we can all watch as Labour get reelected, after all there is no one else up to the Job. And I speak as a past conservative voter. 
I have noticed that even the tory's are going to hit the working man for the worlds financial difficulties caused by the bankers, none of whom are going to be worrying about how to pay for Christmas. GB did not cause the recession.
And no, I am not one of those left wing lentil munchers of the PC brigade, we hear described on here, which incidentally, went down brilliantly in the office...

Just a few thoughts.
