I prefer to go out with a scraper, there's no nasty chemicals to knacker my paint work and there's nothing better than a nice cold crisp morning to wake you up. Oh forgot to add I perv at the yummy mummies taking their kids to school as well ;D

my garage has a sloped tiled roof and i park as close to the door as possible for security mostly, but also the frost is far less severe when parked close to a building.
Only problem is the tiles have that gravel finish on them, as they do, and the wind blows some of it off onto the car and if frosty it sticks in the ice. Then along i come with a scraper and totally muller the screen, lots of lovely scratches right across it. Plus when scraping or de icing me and my hands get rather cold.

So i sit in the car and wait, bugger it. Doesnt take too long on the screen setting either when the car is parked there.

My neighbour used to use hot water from a kettle, he never had a problem, but didnt fancy it myself.

My daily orders are written down on scrap of paper - Mrs TB knows better than to tell me anything before 10am...

Our lass's Elite takes 3-5 minutes to defrost most mornings, just by letting the engine run, cc on auto. (Hope this method works for my MV6 warms up as well).
Letting the engine tick over for a few minutes also helps get the oil up to temp on a cold day before you go thrashing about on the ice and snow.

The boiling water trick - I did it to a Viva years ago, but it didn't so much crack the screen as smash it to bits!
Only made of toughened glass, not laminated!! :-[
I have used warm water from the tap to good effect though.

I put a cover over SWMBO's car when she comes home from work. Next morning she takes it off and throws it on the ground, covered in frost, and when she comes home the fairies have made it all dry and ready to go on again. :( ;D

If the Omega is too frosted I just put a skiing jacket on and take the Westfield out of the garage.  :y
