dont trust the rather dabatase..if you have the papers forget about it.. :y

The police use the database, and it can be a pain if you're stopped. They believe the database and it's up to you to prove you're insured.

And what's a dabatase? ;D

keep the papers with you , no problem me thinks..

and database is a rather garbage where all garbage info is kept ;D ;D :y

Tell me about it.

Stopped 10pm Sunday evening, bike apparently not on MID, bike impounded (cost of £105), meds had well faded by then so arrested for losing the plot, etc, etc.......subsequently found not guilty of public order offences, still waiting for refund of £105 recovery fee 14 months on.

Here's the kicker for me.....

The bike is registered to me, at my home address.
My driving license (verified at roadside) is at my home address.
The bike is MOT'd
The bike is Taxed

Everything you can think of is above board, so why the f**k would I not have insurance (especially when it is so cheap).

The double kicker.....we were less than 5 minutes from my home address.
Although I guess it was just too obvious to take me home so I could show the insurance certificate  ::)

I had this recently on the Saxo I got for Master Vamps, it's all in my name, though the Insurance is in his. went to Tax it online, said no insurance, checked the MID, no insurance, now the car is parked on the road and created not passing police interest and we get the Traffic guys pass here a lot. Anyway, I know it is insured, cos I paid for it :( on closer inspection the insurance cert showed the reg with one letter wrong. Contacted them, sorted it left if a few days and taxed it online, so must be showing as insured now. All because I did not check the documents properly. I can imagine the ranting from me if pulled when out in the car... :)

Mine ok, the 2.2 I've only owned for a week.
I expected that maybe not to show up as insured, but it does.

the other isue there mike would have been if there had been a mishap followed by a claim.

My btoher just treated himself to a nearly new vaccy sri, put his 407 estate up for sale and in the process it got stolen.  This then caused issues as his licence hadnt got a speeding code on it that they reconded should be there, so they just refused to pay up.  Fact is the code had been removed automatically as he got a new licence when he moved, the speeding issue time was up so it was automatically removed.

Since been paid out , but what a night mare.  Simply because some detail was incorrect and not our kids fault.

It's playing into the hands of anyone wanting to steal your vehicle. Plus, we're not required to. It's perfectly acceptable to present them to the police within 7 days (or. at least, it used to be before new liebore the stasi took over).

I think one of the problems is that there has been a spate of people taking out insurance, getting the bit of paper and then cashing-in the policy.

Even still, the plod could make one phone call to confirm you're insured. >:(

High time the UK followed the lead of some other European countries.

In Spain for example you have a sticker which shows the month and the year your MOT is valid to.

Insurance is non refundable once taken out for the year.

Tax is paid once a year by whoever owns the vehicle in May.

Plus you have to carry all your documents with you to be able to produce them on the spot if asked.
