At last, after waiting for the insurance cheque to be received and cleared, ......

You got yours then? Admiral must think we're stupid. They swore blind they'd sent it whne the post office strikes were on, but they would cancel it and send another. Still no (2nd)cheque a week later so I rang and told them how disappointed I was with them ..... I didn't shout either  ::) and I was getting annoyed with waiting 3 weeks for my money. I hadn't got my cheque cos they hadn't sent it  .... again!  >:(
They eventually did what they should/could have done from the start and moved the money electronically to my bank account!  :y  :y

THanks everyone for your best wishes!! :-* :-* :-* :y :y

To start with, it is very interesting Andy how you have had trouble getting your cheque.  With my insurance company, Royal Sun Alliance, after first complaining bitterly about them sending a cheque with postal strikes pending at the time, I waited for the cheque to arrive.  After giving all due time I rang them to ask where it was..........

"oh, sorry Miss Freeman it hasn't been sent due to a  finance charge being on the vehicle".

What?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I told them that the vehicle was bought cash, through a dealer who did a full HPi check............and why, oh why, has no one told me if this was a problem!!!!!!!!!  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

RSA lady said "I can only apologise for no-one informing you of this.......I will check on the situation and ring you back shortly"

She rang me back 45 minutes later........"We have looked at this and apparently the system came up with a charge outstanding.....but it is all clear now and we will send the cheque immediately"  FOUR days later it arrived!!

In summary Andy, it is all down to the insurance companies holding on to their money, earning interest, for as long as possible and making excusses as to why you do not receive YOUR money when they first state "it has been sent"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Hope you receive it soon Andy, but keep chasing!! ;) ;)

To answer all other question:

The colour of my new car is classed as "red", but it appears to be a metallic purple!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;) ;)

I paid £1,650, with 12 months MOT, 6 Months Road Tax, four new tyres, full service history, cam belt replaced 10k ago, 112k on the clock, new exhaust,  all the usual ELITE fully working electrics and black leather seats. :-* :-* :-* 8-) 8-)

Flaws: as far as I can tell just one tiny bit of rust on o/s rear wheel arch and nasty (covered up) scrape on front bumper. ::) ::)

Great to hear you've got yourself sorted out with a new Omega Lizzie. :y I must admit after having been on holiday for a couple of weeks I lost track of posts so didn't realise your other Omega had been written off!

Indeed Bob! :'( :'( :'(  But as it turns out it has all been a positive experience in the end; I had the advantages of driving a new Merc E320 CDI for five weeks, and now obtaining a 3.0 Elite which I have wanted since I sold my last one, and spending no more than my insurance payout to get it!! :-* :-* 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;) ;)
