interesting tactic...
« on: 08 December 2009, 19:29:56 »

took the beemer out for a blast today, i ended up in Northampton. Was following a facelift 2.5 TD on a V plate, it had a fake camera mounted on the rear parcel shelf, and a couple of well placed hi-vis jackets either side.

Think to complete the look, the TD badge should have been removed, as police never used the TD Omega. But at a distance on the motorway that would be quite convincing.....  :D

The traffic police would take a dim view of that.

I agree in principle, but as long as the hi-vis jackets weren't police marked, and they were driving correctly, then there's no offences.. (think about the amount of people who wear hi-vis, electricians, roadworkers, site workers - the list goes on....

If the camera was fake, then it's pretty sad, if you're gonna fit one, may as well fit a real one :D

Doubt it, to be honest....  No difference to those folks who ride large motorcycles with stick on yellow markings, yellow jackets and white crash helmets!

Its the proving of the intent thats the stumbling block, methinks.....   ;)

They wouldn't have to prove anything. Just keep stopping them until they got royally fed up.

Already half there its silver  ;D

Have seen a few bikers wearing high vis coats with blue checker strips, but no police wording, again, very much look like the police.

I might get one at some point to put over my dianese jacket, but i don't want something too loose thats going to ripple in the wind at higher speeds

I carry a hi-vis coat ( nice warm jacket -- not one of these tissue over vests) Hate wearing it but much prefer that to being squashed in a dark lane by some myopic granny in her motorised trolley !!!
