I tend to keep a cheap disposable film camera in the glovebox, as I once had the same problem with digital camera and batteries. Now, for the price of a 'cheapie' (got a couple at the local market for £3 for 2) they are always ready for use, and cheap enought to develop.
Came in handy when the daughter had some twit go into the side of her on a roundabout, (she was on the roundabout, and said twit come out into the passenger side)
As I was a passenger, popped out with the camera and ran off the film before the 'twit' knew what had hit him..... he had not a leg to stand on!!

Hope you are OK Josh, and it all gets sorted OK as well mate.  :y

RTC :-? - sounds like an RTA to me
Where have you been living recently Martin?

It was decreed years ago that the old bill have to blank the word "accident" from their vocabulary as it is deemed to be "negative"

Well no f**king shit Sherlock, I would never have guessed that being involved in an accident would generate a degree of negativity for those involved  ::)

I thought the problem was that if it was described as an accident then no-one was to blame.  Clever (read sneaky) lawyers.

Unlucky Josh-especially re: camera.

I have had a few similar incidents-especially on the coaches-once got hit by a pick up who started shouting it was my fault-by then I had photos of the three occupants jammed in across two seats-the reason he lost control.  He soon shut up and admitted liability.

Last time a got damaged enough to go for repair, a guy behind me hit my rear end at traffic lights.  I got out with a concealed dictaphone and he said "oh damn-my dog jumped on my knee and I stuffed the pedals".  Changed his mind after a few minutes and tried to say I rolled back- until I played the recording back and showed him the photos.

Hope you get it sorted-as said on previous posts-watch out for additional witnesses and passengers miraculously appearing out of thin air.  Damn shame your camera was not working  :'(

Good luck sorting it Josh  :y

Good luck with the insurance Josh. Real bummer but sadly too typical nowadays.

I always have a camera with me, the centre console cubbyhole is perfectly sized for my spare camera. These things you always learn the hard way.

What a bummer .. and unfortunately I think you may have problems proving your case .. :(

I was involved in a lane change roundabout accident 5 years ago, the other guy simply cut me up, no signals and changed lanes for no reason, I had no chance to avoid him.

The insurance company told me quite specifically that as it was extremely difficult to prove "blame" given no witnesses, it was my word against his and "knock-for-knock" was a reasonable decision.

Further, this was their policy on rounadabout accidents.

I argued strongly, including many photo's of the approach roads, signs, road markings etc but was getting nowhere. They eventually sent me his version of the events at which point I was able to make a very strong stand. He had claimed to be in the middle lane as he entered the roundabout. The photo's showed there were 4 lanes and I was able to ask how he could claim the "middle" lane of four lanes, and make further inroads into his arguments.

His insurers then accepted liability and I got all my costs and no-claims back......  but it took over 6 months ... :(

I was looking for a similar thread I had started, but found this one by James.

There is a bracket on ebay that can be fitted to the headrest uprights and adapts a PVR on to it.

With your trade Josh it would be an ideal tool to just clip into a car, and in this case would have had this guy bang to rights.

Just a thought.  Ideal when out on a test drive.  :y

There is a system available that replaces the interior mirror and is a combined camera and recorder, which records a few minutes at a time and then erases and records over unless an impact is detected or the button pressed to save the last few minutes.

Was speaking to a guy that fits them in the UK a while back, can't remeber company name.

Sounds like it could save a lot of hassle on a claim...

You might remember a thread a while back where a garage took a customers car for a "TestDrive" at very excessive speeds, it just all happended to get recorded on something similar and was handed to the police, I forget the car it was, but was rapid.

These are something similar to others I have seen.

That's similar-they may have got smaller due to tech updates-the one I saw was a replacement for the mirror..

there was that other system which caught that garage taking some guys Vauxhall Monaro for a 125mph blast too, all very useful.

Some still photos of the scene should be plenty  :)

Roadhawk

I have one.

http://www.roadhawk.co.uk

It doesn't "replace" the interior mirror .. it sits "behind" it . :)
