Sounds to me like there's not too much to be done, TBH. Duff thermostat is not ideal but I wouldn't say it's critical to fix that beforehand. Better to travel with it overcooling than rush that job.

Drive it with the climate on ECO mode and perhaps blank half  of the radiator off, keep an eye on the gauge and it'll be fine.

Adjusting the bonnet catch and tyres and checking the alignment would be a good plan, though. Can't see that taking too long.

His car is LPG, and I was going on Shuttle, so I could not take his car. Then I decided to take the ferry, and I remembered last time I was aboard a fl;oating vessel I ended up in sick bay for 3 hours, so that was out so I had to rebook shuttle today, in fact, eurostar called me today to see if I still wanted the £15 return offer so I jumped at it

Righty-ho... If you can get sea sick on the ferry it's not a good idea

I have a small problem in as much as we only have one car so the wife will have to find another way to get to work but i'm sure we can sort something out
