You shouldn't have taken the vouchers, because you don't need them.

People seem to forget that these things are supposed to be there for those that need them.  Does it not sit slightly uncomfortably that it's money that perhaps should have gone to someone who DID need the help?

Just a thought....

I tried to get out of a job interview by saying I got no clothes (decent) for such an interview, If I had point blank refused to go they would have stopped what little benefits I do get. I thought I was thinking on my feet. I could not go and say after I lied about not having decent clothes, that after all I have, I would have looked a right pratt.

Well you're not leaving at 12:15am then. No wonder you can't get a job. ;D
1215 tomorrow might, is in my book 1215am , How difficult can that be?

no such time as 1215am .. :)

its either 00:15 am  or 00:15 pm  or  00:15 or 12:15

The use of am/pm signifies use of the 12 hour clock

no suffix letters indicates use of the 24 hour clock

Military head off .. :)

Are you entitled to benefits with all the cash you got?

Poor old Di's had a shite week and hasnt made many friends during it has she.......

Bless her....

Dont blame her for taking what was offered, however if it was me and I had also just received a well publicised cheque for £13000 odd I would have politely said NO thanks I dont need it, I can afford to buy my own clothes......

Owt for nowt this country and it rather stinks as a result.....

 :(
Webby, I think I have made quite a few friends actually. And just because I had a cheque for £13k that makes me ineligible for state handouts for what I have paid in for the past 30 years. Hmmmmmm
Are people jealous cos I took what was offered to me I did not know I was entitled, but was offered, and I accepted.
Deal with it.

Not getting into an argument with you, cant be bothered.

I stand by my friends comment.

I have nothing else I need to deal with, its not important to me your financial situation.....

My issues with your actions are described clearly above........

Di, you were attending that interview anyway, regardless of any excuse. It would have been to your credit if, when the lady offered the clothing voucher you had simply thanked her but politely refused. Instead you shamelessly 'played the system' and actually crowed about it here! This is a Public Forum & every member will have His or Her own morals, and ultimately make up their own mind as to the rights & wrongs, but to my mind you have put yourself in the firing line and might, just might, learn a lesson from 'thinking on your feet' in future. :(

If you come onto a public forum and boast about claiming benefits which you are not entitled to and expect no comeback, then you are even more stupid than I thought you were.

If you read the post earlier, I have already accepted a post as Head Cook in a Mental Institute. If I had told them I had accepted a post they would stop my benefits immediatley, and I have to wait for my CRB to come back and that takes upto 6 weeks. And you are entitled to have upto £12k in your bank and claim benefits, and having bought a car it takes it way under the £12k

Why am I NOT entitled.?
And stupid I am NOT. Far from it. I may be gullible, I may be niave, but I am not stupid, and I ask that you retract that remark, but if I wait for that to happen I most certainly can be classed as STUPID
