Leaders Debate
« on: 15 April 2010, 20:16:35 »

830pm ITV - sadly, I'm really, really looking forward to it - of course it'll probably turn out to be so constrained and dull i'll be asleep before the end - but what if one of them truly truly drops a monumental clanger? wouldn't you like to be watching?  ;D

why did cameron ever want this? he was a mile ahead in the polls when he threw down the gauntlet - bet he regrets it know, it looks like boosting the libdems  :o

Brown - please, whoever's giving you your rank rotten quips just hit him - you can't tell a joke - you can't even retell a personal story and make it sound convincing  ;D

Cameron - looked terrified at the start then settled into it - not as good as his party would've hoped

Clegg - easily the best - looked calm, confident honest....still wont get in tho, although all they need is a hung parliament so they may well get it now  ;)

Agreed, Cleggy has the benefit of no baggage, i.e. not having a record of previous inaction to justify.

I am worried about the Trident issue with the LD's though. I'm not sure we actually need it - how about keeping it going for another 20 years instead until things have settled down somewhat and then decide.

A bit too much so, IMHO. A bit too reminiscent of Tory.B.Liar's level of smarm for comfort.

With Gordon Brown agreeing so much with Nick Clegg why would you vote for Labour? ::) ::) :D :D :D

Nick Clegg certainly had a good 'moment' in politics, but of course this is just the beginning of the campaign.  If the Election was today then I think the results for the Lib Dems would be very interesting indeed.  However it is not, and Cameron has time to further the Conservatives policies. ;) ;)

Lib dems it is then.!! The great British public won't be swayed by written documents, track records etc but by a series of three very stilted TV "debates".

As for Trident. Does Britain actually need its own nuclear deterrent? Let the EU do it and pay for it. If it does and it is a big IF then why not keep the existing one. Hide them somewhere rather than wear them out uselessly patrolling the oceans and pocket the £100 billion saved (sorry £200 billion as the estimates are always way under actual outurn.
