Sad to see him like that. Remember him from the 70`s and 80`s when i played snooker for a local club in a league. We used to get some of the big names down at the club to play exhibition matches. Saw Steve Davis ( not at all dour, one of the best sense of humours going at the time.) Ray Reardon, Cliff Thorburn, John Virgo, Terry Grifiths and Alex Higgins. Most of the other stars just played 3 frames against the top local players, then a few trick shots and then they were off. Will allways remember Alex playing on afterwards until he had made a hundred plus break. If i remember correctly i think he played around 12 frames that night. He stayed behind afterwards and spent time talking to club members and signed autographs. My mate grew up with him in Belfast and they had a good `ol chat about thier days playing in snooker clubs over there. Eventually we left the club and i was asked to give him a lift to a local nightclub (Caesers Palace ) with my mate. We dropped off his cue at the local hotel room where he was staying and went to the nightclub. He was a bit of a loose cannon but allways had time for his fans.  :y
