I did realise you werent giving opinion Skruntie. :y.........just thought that as you had recorded it you could maybe take another look.
I dont see that it matters wether its a top/quick/driver/car etc. In theory if Hamilton hadnt weaved the Renault might have passed him into the next corner and stayed in front until there was another chance for Hamilton to pass again, this could have continued through every lap off the race until one of them happened to be ahead of the other at the flag, that to me is motor racing. Having a quicker car isnt necessarily anything to do with it. Hamilton would have known that it could have continued all through the race, so blocked him until he could get to the twisties and then pulled away - not cricket imo.

but at the end of the day all he got was a warning, so did he acrually break the rules.  Martin brundle thought no and the stewards said dont do it again, so result stands.

Quite agree, just surprised. In lots of classes of racing, weaving on the straight to keep rivals behind gets punished as a matter of course. ;)
Just watched it again on BBC red button - dont see how it could be described as anything other than blatant weaving. :-/

Banjax - we are currently in an extended era pretty much the same as the ground effect cars, no overtaking.

FIA, to make the sport even remotely interesting, need to resolve this.  I agree that banning fuel stops is the right move (for the past few years, the only overtaking has been pit stops). But they need to reduce the effects of aerodynamics drastically. Obviously, these cars still need to be quicker than lesser, single seat formulas.

So, the obvious requirements:
Increase mechanical grip (gone the right direction by gone back to slicks), allow wider tyres
Massively reduce effective size nosecone/rear wing/diffusers
Stop keep limiting engine power by reducing cc and setting rules on engine architecture - this is the premium formula of racing!
Maybe, to keep greenies happy, and to effectively control engine power via another method, have a set size fuel tank.

I don't see that as rocket science, and this should have been done years ago.

Three minor points of interest imo
1. Very glad to see that young Rosberg is still driving rings around "the greatest driver ever" - he obviously isnt allowed to cheat in an illegal car anymore. :)
2. The young Russian in the Renault who refused to be intimidated by Hamilton in the Mclaren. :)
3. How did Hamilton get away with only a warning when he blatantly weaved the whole length of the straight to keep the Russian lad behind him. :-/ :o

martin brundle didnt see it as blatent weaving so maybe the warning was enough.
I thought he was pushing his luck when he did it.  The weaving rule is about preventing people from overtaking and Hamilton had cleanly passed  already so there was no real argument that an overtake was viable.  Hamilton was trying to break the tow so he was moving first, and t'other bloke following.  The weaving that is banned is when the bloke behind pulls out and the one in front blocks it.  Only a minute difference but I suspect that's what the stewards saw.

FWIW Vettel weaved several times as he passed the chequered flag.  It would have been a shame if he had been banned! ;D

If Hamilton hadnt weaved there was every chance that the bloke would have pulled out of the tow at the end of the stright and passed him, which is why Hamilton did what he did, so he was weaving to prevent overtaking. ;)

Monaco GP, may get some rain tomorrow  :y

i was watching some of the practice sessions the last few days and Kubica and Hamilton were awesome - flicking out the back and kissing the barriers on exits - brilliant stuff - those 2 to qualify first and second  ;)

what was it Nigel Mansell said about how you get pole at Monaco? "scrub the paint off the tyres" good for qualy, won't last the race tho  :-/

Monaco is the closest to slot-car racing you'll see away from the ovals. :D

Sadly with today's mob, that will mean non stop safety car.  Anything to prevent any kind of excitement...

Monaco's a circuit you have to be brave to even race round let alone pass.  Hamilton is making some noises about taking risks so he might be good to watch.

Alonso has already wiped the RHS off his car in practice so that bodes well for the race as he might miss qualifying and have to start from the back.

I'm not trying to convert you TB.  I know where you're coming from but I can still enjoy most of the F1 races.

On the subject of enjoying races, I struggle to enjoy anything that happens at Rockingham.  Does anyone else share that view?
