Banjax - we are currently in an extended era pretty much the same as the ground effect cars, no overtaking.
FIA, to make the sport even remotely interesting, need to resolve this. I agree that banning fuel stops is the right move (for the past few years, the only overtaking has been pit stops). But they need to reduce the effects of aerodynamics drastically. Obviously, these cars still need to be quicker than lesser, single seat formulas.
So, the obvious requirements:
Increase mechanical grip (gone the right direction by gone back to slicks), allow wider tyres
Massively reduce effective size nosecone/rear wing/diffusers
Stop keep limiting engine power by reducing cc and setting rules on engine architecture - this is the premium formula of racing!
Maybe, to keep greenies happy, and to effectively control engine power via another method, have a set size fuel tank.
I don't see that as rocket science, and this should have been done years ago.
