I think I may be deluded, gotta agree there, or why would I keep winding up THE Boy.
And after all is said and done I am winding you up.
I did try and clean the original joke up, but I just did not find it racist.
If it had said P_ _ _ I could have understood.
Appologies, and to be honest I expected my name in PINK hours ago. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D, would match the Bra and Knickers I am NOT wearing right now :o :o :o :o :o :o

TB, I agree about old jokes etc, but we do seem to have become more PC /sensitive on the forum recently.I remember your avatar last year - "break off pikeys", I thought it was hilarious, but I doubt someone would be allowed to have that avatar now, someone would complain - offensive/racist against gypsies/ minorites etc. ;)
Speaking as a moderator, rather than personally, the problem we have, seeing as the General Chat area seems to have turned into an area for tired, old, poor, lame, pointless, naff jokes.

I think we are at a real, critical tipping point now. Either OOF continues as the old, family friendly site, with that unique OOF 'spirit'. Or it degenerates into 'The Shed' from another site - getting away from that pointless mentality was precisely the reason OOF was set up.

Again, speaking as a moderator, OOF members need to decide where they want the future of the site to head towards, assuming OOF has a future.

Speaking personally, I think OOF is badly broken, the 'light touch' moderating that used to work so well has been almost abandonned due to an increasing number of members constantly pushing to see what they can get away with (like children  >:(), taking up an excessive amount of moderating time that the mods give up freely to ensure this place runs. I hope to have a face to face discussion with those attending the Lakes meet to canvas where the members want the future of OOF head. Or decide if OOF has a future.

Even STMO isnt as pig ignorant as he used to be ;D ;D
I hope the discussion at the lakes meet will take place before the numerous cases of wife beater are unloaded from the boot of the Mig. ;) :D

You beat me to it....

I listen to inane drivel at work where tired old gollywog/chinky/paki/white honky etc etc type 'jokes' keep on being trotted out, despite most being older than the yoof telling them.

Yup, I'm a tired bored and boring old fart.  Yup, I enjoy a laugh and a giggle but like to have a sanctuary where such crap does not intervene.

If I wanted to re-re-re-re-read tired old jokes that were barely amusing in the days of Love thy Neighbour (not  ::) ) then I would visit A.N.Other Vauxhall orientated web forum where just about anything goes - both content and language used.

Like TB says, the wheel has come off the bike on here big time and I seriously worry about the road OOF is heading, given the juvenile mindset of some of the most vociferous on here, despite subtle hints and nudges that such behaviour is not what its about......

TBH, badly broken seems a bit strong to me, but I wasnt here from the start, so I could be part of the problem without  realising. :-/
I do think it has changed in the time I have been here, although I also think it has been a bit better recently, but  not what it used to be.

... Couldn't help noticing all the pairs of shoes lined up outside,
and shouts of glee comming from within.....
... The only conclusion I could come to is...

.... Is there a great big Bouncy Castle inside ?

Someone did  :'(

Personally, I think pikeys are fair game, seeing as they are thieving, shitty scum...
Should have told them to bugger off and go read the Guardian website instead. ;D ;D
I think their fair game too, but they are a very protected species these days, like any group of people who con the powers that be into classifying them as a minority - its positive discrimination all the way after that - one big p155 take imo. ;)

nah - the Grauniad's gone downhill - it's mainly the Independent now  :y

I'll stick my head over the parapet here - I tell those "targeted jokes" at work that are funny and get the same back - that works well, as any sign of bullying via joke is stamped on.

But on a forum everyone is a "keyboard warrior" - no-one here knows what colour/size/religion i am

Agree Peachy.....I'm not bothering to post any more....can't see the point.
Forces joke removed....I assume because I forgot to * a letter.
Pathetic as the word concerned is used every day, by just about everyone, females included.
If there is a word that mods think offend...can't they just edit ??

Moderators (like the majority on the forum) work all day & do not have time to constantly monitor content so it is better that people refrain from posting potentially offensive material. There is a real danger that unless all members act responsibly, that the forum will cease. Profanities are not clever

Would like to come on as a 'newbie'.  :y

I'd like to think that we should all use a bit of 'sense' before posting things. Unfortunately in this current climate of ours the 'foreigners' are protected beyond belief (and i include ALL minority groups even if they were born here) - case in hand is 'The flying (or should i say the NON flying!!) of the St.George flag - England'.  ::) ::)

There are millions of ex-pats who have moved & living in Spain - will the Spanish ban the Spanish flag from flying during the World Cup in case it upsets the 'foreigners'?? Will they hell & so they shouldn't!!

Getting back to this site i personally think that swear words just need to have an * placed within them so that way everyone knows wot the word is but offence won't be taken. As for racist jokes being posted, all i can say is as long as they are said in a tongue-in-cheek way & are 'jokes' then what's the problem?? Lets face it jokes like this have been around for a long long time.

I've been telling Jewish jokes for the last 40 odd yrs since as a Jew people used to take the mickey out of me  so i thought if you can't beat them join them!

The moderators/adminisrators have got a difficult enough job as it is so if EVERYONE just uses a bit of the old grey matter (i.e. 'would that offend me if i was not of English descendancy/religion') hopefully we can carry on reading 'jokes' and having a giggle. After all there's enough problems happening around the world & its nice to take a break from it!!  :y

if telling unnamusing racist jokes that weren't funny in primary school is what floats your boat then good luck to you - i prefer to think we've evolved from that as a nation and individuals.....but each to their own - seems to be a major issue for the rednecks on here who need to justify their little lives by belittling a person's race, nationality or colour on the grounds of being "not like us"....does that make you all feel better about yourselves? if thats what you need - theres no hope  :o

TOTALLY AGREE MATE.

However..............

If you are offended by the content of a post, report it, don't just fume and bitch about it, as we all have our different tolerances to profanity and humour.

Personally speaking, I find OOF both pleasureable and informative, and have been in contact with many people who are both humourous and knowledgeable, but have a sharp tongue at times and can sometimes cause offence with their words. This (to me anyway) just shows the diversity of the human race, but totally understand some peoples anger or annoyance at some of the recent posts. This forum is a community of sorts, whether you like it or not, and we all have the ability to make it, or break it. The more people get dissallutioned with OOF and vote with their feet, the worse the problem will get, all the knowledge will go too, and we will decend into the same as every other forum that is full of idiots who just want to post drivel and swear words to see if they are moderated out.
In all my short time here, I have found cameraderie, and genuine affection for the marque that we all originally came together to share our collective knowledge on, and this should always be available for all to share should we need it, not trawl through drivel to find it!
I am not here to profess my opinion or stuff it down anybodys throat, and I apologise if this little rant annoys anybody, but heck- a little thought goes a long way, and tolerance is the mortar that binds all classes, creeds, religions, races, and orientation together in this "melting pot" that is the world.
Stop, Think, Post.   easy.

Thankyou.

Mike.
