are you serious? lampard, rooney, defoe, gerrard, terry, barry, wright-philips.....the lot - one or two bad performances doesnt make them bad players overnight, plus we wouldn't expect them to win the world cup and maybe theyd play without fear  :y

I didn't watch all the match because I was working, but the first half was absolutely woeful, England should have easily beaten Algeria if all the hype was to be believed. I honestly thought they would as well.

World cup contenders? They'll be lucky to beat Slovenia and stay in at this rate... did anyone see that one coming?

Name one tournament where Rooney in an England shirt has done well?

Sit Rep.

Did Algeria score any goals? - No. - Defence works! (at least with David James)

Did ball stay in mid field? Yup! - Fielders work!

Did we score goals? No! He was tasked to put the ball in that net, and he failed miserably. I've seen goats move quicker than he did, sooner he is ditched the better!

It should be. 1) We don't deserve it. 2) Slovenia in both matches played with so much more energy and enthusiasm. In fact, so did the Yanks. They deserve to go through, not us  :)

My national pride means I still hope England will win the World Cup. Yes a world cup for any nation.

However methinks England sits on its laurels whereas other countries without our great footballing heritage show us a clean pair of heels. The lads played no better than a bunch of folk down the old reccie.

I hope Fabio gives his salary back if we don't beat them next Wednesday.

PS Haven't we got any good team managers that are English.?

I can see Beckham giving it a go within a few years, he was never much of a striker IMHO, but he always had a nack for getting the ball where it needed to be, and letting the others run around

I don't like Capello at all.
1. He's not English
2. I don't like the way he runs the team.
3. I don't like his formation choices.
4. I don't like the 2 hour rule before the game, just tell the players if they're playing or not.

There are many more I could go on about but I won't.

seems to be a feeling that the players are terrified of capello, terrified of making a mistake, and being too uptight - what's worked for capello in the past, and what's made him one of the most successful club managers in the world is a strict regime where players are ruled by the "iron general" as he's called by the italians and it seemed to work all through qualifying where the players are with him for a couple of days at a time only. now they've had this regime for a solid 6 weeks - players are maybe beginning to hate the constraints and being treated like school kids on a trip with the headmaster? no mobiles, no wags, no drink, no fun and lights out at 11pm....these are highly successful, talented, grown men being told who they can and can't see and when to go to bed?:-?

then again, Steve "mate of the players" McLaren didn't work out either, neither did Sven who was soft as putty with them  :o

Thats coz hes a midfielder ;D ;D ;D
Seriously though, before the tournament started i genuinly thought england had a great chance of winning the world cup....but my one way ticket to outer mongolia is on hold... after the two games i've seen.... they have no chance. Spain,Argentina,Brazil,Holland and Germany would all rip them to pieces.
In my opinion capello should drop rooney and go with defoe and crouch up front with joe cole on the wing, that would provide service, speed and height.
The camera cut to capello at one point, seemingly asking stuart peirce for advice.......peirce shrugged his shoulders as if to say i havnt a clue boss.
Did anyone listen to the aftermatch analysis on talk sport?
Stan Collymore and that complete F*^!*@g  T*^t Adrian Durham were going MENTAL!!!! As a Scot,i was in tears of laughter, mainly coz i had heard tha tripe Durham was spouting pre-tounament......hate the guy >:( >:(
