Sigh. Can we not leave the Administrating to the Admins?

I was quering why a thread has had the postings it has had when the Admins stated something different Chris.  What is wrong with that so we all can follow the guidelines or not?

Yes I can read Lizzie, thank you, well most of the time anyway. Personally I don't see that it's anybody's business but the op and Admin. This does not help their work load or thier enjoyment of their own forum.

Leave it be. IMO.

Agreed. If you were concerned Lizzie a PM to OP or one of the Admins would have been better, rather than creating a shit storm which the admin team is eventually going to have to be cleaned up.

As Chris said, leave it be!

What .........storm??!! :o :o :o :o  I simply asked a question in a humorous manner Tunnie based on Ht21 enforcing the guidelines on this section, whilst other Admins were talking of a "broken forum".   No wonder if this is the type of reception a member can face if they raise a point that I think others should be aware of::) ::) ::)

So like it or lump it I will do whatever I believe is in the interests of the Forum. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ;) ;)

I have now spend almost 40 minutes attempting to post a reasoned, well structured, reply to this thread via a borrowed mobile whilst on a break from OOF only to have it disappear into the ether 8 or 9 times now....

As per the highlit quote above - So like it or lump it I will do whatever I believe is in the interests of the Forum. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ;) ;)   - perhaps thats what the admin team is currently attempting to do, with or withour your notify admin useage?

Sorry to be blunt.  Honestly......   :)

All pick on Lizzie time (Again) sorry but I get the distict feeling some of you just dont like the ladies makeing coment in a male orientated area.

It's general chat and a valid point, H21 went out of his way to update the posting rules and all Lizzie has done is point the point that the comments were not car related, Which is a valid point and distracting from the thread.

Making rules and making them adhered to is an Admin job thats correct, but bending those rules to suit makes for interesting points of conversation.  Plus putting lizzie down (Tunnie and Chris) just because you are friends of Admin is not what the forum is about either.

Not trying to cause conflict, just my view as I see it.

Thanks Skruntie for backing me up! :-* :-* :y :y :y

Yes I do feel now that I am not required on here (I did alert Daz at the start of the thread about STMO's unwelcome rudeness (Yet again) and at least Daz did something about it :y :y), and I think that now, like maybe the other ladies who have departed the OOF,  my personality does not suit the Forum.

Yes I am a strong minded individual who will push my belief and conviction (35 years of business managerial training!) to the utmost.  I am used to doing that in a professional environment, where comment is in line with Company Regulations and Guidelines, whilst maybe still strong, is neverless kept polite and professional.  I sincerely apologise to all if this approach is not to their liking on the OOF.

Anyway it is clear that I am the problem here, not the solution to the "broken Forums" woes as widely published by the Admins only a few weeks ago.  Therefore whilst NOT leaving the OOF I will now hibernate and only use it for reference.

Frankly posting on the OOF has become too much like hard work and always under the threat of upset (this time with first STMO being most insulting, then Ht21, even though he was the one who stressed the need to stick to the guidelines; sorry Ht21 for wasting your time last night!)

I have tried to help fellow members either on the Help Sections or physically with their cars and motoring needs.  But obviously I still do not fit in, especially with a little gang that have formed on here in my time, so after 13,133 posts I move on.

All the very best to all, and especially the OOF that will eventually have to find its path that will satisfy the admins and members alike. :y :y :y :y :y

I'm very sorry to hear this Lizzie as I've always thought your contributions enhanced the standard of debate here.

I've no doubt that you have the strength of mind to do what you're suggesting, so that I must respect - however from a personal standpoint I will miss your input and sincerely hope that it isn't too long before you're posting again.

I'm afraid it looks to me as if publicly challenging the admins over the consistency of their efforts is destructive.

There have been a number of these over past weeks and they are all similar to overthrow attempts where the vocal majority try to impose their views.

I suspect that some of the admins are close to throwing-in the towel if their generous donation of time and effort is rewarded in this way.

PMs (to the appropriate person :)) in such matters might be of assistance but not if they come too thick and fast I'm sure.

I've often noticed that contributors to forums such this eventually fall into the trap of thinking they own it.  Phrases such as 'we don't believe that' when half the membership are lurkers and we can't possibly know their views and thus speak for them!! (Haven't actually seen that on OOF fortunately :y).

If someone wants to alert the admin team of something they feel is breaking the rules, why not just push the Alert Moderator button instead of posting a thread about it, that way the mods can look at it and deal with it as they feel fit without all this rubbish going on. Its that easy.

As a long-standing member of OOF, I feel duty-bound to air my opinion on this controversy.

Without being long-winded, it boils down to the fact that a 'For Sale' thread got carried away. Even though such ramblings are frowned upon, it is a relatively rare event and, to the best of my knowledge, no one is forced to read the posts, anyway.

My initial reaction, and one which has remained having read all the posts on this subject is: "So what?"

It is this sort of stirring that raises the temperature on here. Members end up at each other's throats because of a bit of chit-chat over a car sale??

Sheesh! >:(

The underlying complaint, while not invalid, should never have been allowed to escalate into this situation. A word on the qt to an admin was all it warranted.

Now, let's all simmer down and get back to being friendly. :y

LZ (and others)

Firstly, as an Admin, may I point out that there is no predejuice simply because of your gender at an Admin level.  Yes, I am sure in this male oriented arena of car clubs there are some members who think that women should be in the kitchen doing the dishes or other such sexist views.  I'm sure, if we dig deep enough, there are some members who think OOF should be an exclusive resource for white, English males. These people are wrong, its a global site where everyone is treated equally, irrespective of race/origin/gender/age.

So any treatment from Admin team is based on recent behaviour of that person, and may be combined with the current 'state' of OOF at that point.

I hope that is clear to everyone.

Right, down to the specifics of this one, I purposely stayed away from this thread, as I was one of the perceived transgressors.  When I saw the alert notice, I looked at the thread in question, but decided not to moderate mine or anyone else's post on that thread - as an Admin, we sometimes get to understand the backstory better than members can.  Additionally, in some cases, it would be unethical for me to moderate some posts - this car has generated some interest, including from me, so it may be seen as not being a level playing field if a moderator moderates a for sale thread when he has a vested interest.

At a personal level, 2 of the names mentioned, tunnie and chrisgixer, are people I would class as friends.  That makes jack all difference to the way I or anyone else will moderate their posts.  Poor tunnie probably gets the rough end of the stick for being a 'friend', often deserved, sometimes not.

Ought else to discuss on this thread?

Exactly, right. I fear for the future of oof due to threads like this in public.

Every single one of us has had more help from admin than is fair to ask of any individual, they do so without charge in their own time, willingly and in the back ground at some personal cost. Now if you can't see that point of view and try to reciprocate with some sort of support for them, as they've shown us. Then leave now IMO.

However this has got out of hand despite requests to leave it be, i'm
M sure Lizzie ment no harm, but in reality admin may well feel the need to step in somehow as they see fit, they don't need it.

I'm getting above my station now I think, but please, no more......IMO anyway.
