Hmmm, I think this shows again that FIFA really need to do something about their officials  >:(

I started out supporting the Spaniards - I'd said a couple of weeks ago they were going to win the final - but the quality of the officials was definately stacked against the Dutch...

....your joking right? Did you see that full on studs in the chest for a yellow?

i thought it was a beautiful tribute to the late Bruce Lee  ;)

and the spainards still wanted to play the advantage even thou the guy had some new breathing orifices!

Ref did the Dutch a massive favour there at least, and having seen why the Dutch got the hump at the end they can't complain about that either. Shame for them but delighted for Spain. :y

Yup. Nasty.  But I think the decisions being made up to that point where leading to Dutch frustration.

Have you seen the Spanish media today saying that those officials were unfair, and biased towards Dutch? That was the beginning of the mindgames, and I think Howard fell for it.

I was, as said, supporting the Spanish, and I think the best team won, but I felt that too many decisions went against the Dutch (or more accurately, the Spanish got away with a lot more).

Like most of the games in this competition, I think FIFA and their officials look very, very bad.

Additionally, despite what that prat Hanson says, it was a poor game of football, whoever you were supporting. Very tedious, bad tempered game, with neither side wanting to play until extra time

I don't think this world cup has been a very good example of football.  Haven't watched every match by any means but think the whole series has been flawed for some reason.

I suspect the winning goal was offside from an earlier play.

Missed the karate kick though!  Was watching Best of You've Been Framed off HDD.  Was it the wrong decision? ;D ;D

Speaking as an ex referee, I have to say the standard imho is really poor.
Personally, I think that FIFA use all the 'top league' refs which means that they normally do 'middles' as we say....and do not do many lines on normal weekly games.
To be honest, you would get better linesmen if you used the guys that ref in the feeder leagues and do lines most weekends :y
On my past experiences, getting Class One's is a case of  'if your face fits'

It's been crap, why do they insist on changing the ball at the start of the competition, does nothing for the game.

Well iknow why, money, but it's all b****x, Blatter should be shot at dawn and the new ball and hawk eye introduced immediately after

the new ball was supplied to all participants in march (i believe that was the date) however the FA lost thier assignment  of 23 balls and did not request any replacements, even though other countries bought and paid for additional balls

But don't let the facts stop a good rant ;D

Forgetting the incompitence of our own FA, all teams seemed to be struggling a bit with it.  Why introduce a new one so close to competition?

I suspect this new, lighter ball (difficult to keep down) was introduced to allow more long range shots, rather than proper football of playing it into the box.

did you see the bounce it took when holland gave the ball back to spain to allow treatment - kudos to the dutch for just passing the ball to the keeper from the resulting corner  :y

alarm bells started with the ball when green let it in against the usa, then all through the tournament there were bizarre keeping errors, shots moving oddly, terrible free kicks (Japan seemed the only side with a clue). Its a financial decision - i think they should have left it at the iconic Adidas Tango from '78 and '82  :y they still fetch over £100 on e-bay  :o

Watching the way it dips and moves about, its like playing with a cheap kids plastic ball.

Maybe all part of FIFA's attempt to make the top flight game to use same equipment as kids that toe-poe the balls in the local park  ::).
