I have a 55 plate signum 1.9cdti 150 bhp and it's a great load lugger the back seats fold flat into the floor and its massive, you can fit a large single mattress on the floor :-X
But when your not load lugging the rear passenger have fantastic leg-room and it's a nice car to drive and it's good on fuel :y

Really.....worth a view then.....as long as my bitch can jump in the back.....and get comfy... :y

Vx dont seem to do the 2.2 diesel on em now......any reason you know of?

I seem to remember cam chains snapping on some vx diesels.....tho carnt remember the details

Dont suppose the 1.9 replaced the 2.2 coz they just fitted an intercooler to the 1.9 to give it more umphh.....or did the 2.2 have an intercooler as well?

You may remember im not a fan of diesels with intercoolers fitted.

In my opinion, every turbo charged engine should have an intercooler....because

a) When you compress a gas it raises the temp (Boyles law)
b) You want the loweest inlet temp you can get for max efficiency

The 1.9 effectively replaced the 2.2 (as used on the Omega)......no chain issues on the 2.2 though....not the diesel version...and the 1.9 is a good unit

I have always found the load space on the C class pretty poor.....the only car in the range with less is the A4.....

Thanks for the input... :y tho does the 2.2 diesel have an intercooler.....think the 2.5 lump (omega) does...but unsure of the 2.2....probably not as you carnt get an auto version.

I agree with a) and b) but this means the manu's inject more diesel to get more power....and hence use more diesel.....i think we've been here before  ;D

The merc 2.2 doesnt havent an intercooler.....my old 2.2 used to average 43mpg.....thats probably 90% town work and 10% long runs.....i looked up the signam 1.9 diesel....its only about 40mpg extra urban...and less than 30mpg town driving....so i reckon 35mpg max is probably about right for the driving i do....
