Working late at night on economic journals, I tend to tune the PC into the radio to while away the time. Recently I discovered that BBC Radio 7 was running old episodes of "Round the Horne", which you can listen again to at any time.
I'm probably the only one on here that finds a 1960s vintage comedy show still funny. I admit to giggling at the exploits of J. Peasemold Grunthuttock and ageing juvenile Binky Huckleback. Meanwhile Rambling Sid Rumpo's ditties, which include such forgetful lines as:
"Green grows the grunge on my lady’s possett"and
"When I was young I nadgered on my splod while I nurked at the wogglers tree"
still seem as amusing today as they ever did. Not an F word, or political dig in sight - so refreshing.
Indeed, if only Bona Car Sales existed ("
Hello, I'm Julian and this is my friend Sandy"). I would love to buy my next Omega from them.
"OoH, Mr Nickbat, look at the back box on this one, OEM that is, and we all know what that means, don't we Sandy?!" Sadly, I should think that no-one else on this site knows what I'm on about, so I'll truss up my groats and leave.
With thanks to the late great Marty Feldman and Barry Took.

(I also love Hancock's Half-Hour.)
