Car Sales
« on: 02 August 2010, 17:24:46 »

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1276249607

I am bringing this into general chat for a simple reason (So Admin - If I am out of order then please delete it)

Quite a few adds go in the  for sale section, some are outstandinding,
with Pictures
History
Owners
Mileage
Good Points
Bad Points
Price
Colour
Age
Location

Some are not so good, leaving off the bare basics like, price, model, auto/manual, CD/Elite, Saloon/Estate, Petrol/Diesel etc.

We all know pics help sell a car.

We often get told off for asking questions that turn into banter that in yurn spoils an add, sadly that is sometimes because we have uncovered something the advert didnt tell us.

This guy for example (and am useing this as a help point.)

Omega 2.5 V6 CDX Saloon Auto [edit]is in the title[/edit]

Hi all

I'm relisting my omega, here we again, the car is a 1998 auto in saloon , showing 110k, althogh the speedo hasn't worked for a while. Mot Till aug, tax till jan 11.

[edit]Covered all the basic points[/edit]

The car is in what i consider excellent condition for the year, not withstanding some age related dilipidation.

[edit]Your opininion but no pictures to back it up[/edit]

would Like £550 the remainder of the tax alone is worth £120  [edit]In effect he wants £430 for the car[/edit]. the car also has a reg no of S3 ***, WHICH I WOULD THINK IS ALSO WORTH A COUPLE OF BOB.
[edit]Generally depends on your name[/edit]

Please pm me if intersted.

many thanks

My Idea of an advert is below.
[edit]

£550 ONO

Remainder of the tax alone is worth £120.

On my fishing forum we use a standard pre filled sheet such as the OP"s and it works.

All main points are coverd so its just a case of filling in the blanks...makes reading catch reports so much easier as there all uniform.

Skruntie well done and id like too see it put into place. :y

I have suggested a prefilled form before, but like other have said, adverts are an individual thing.

Maybe still worth having one some where though if people are not quite sure.

It makes sense Phil, I always use a certain format, and it works well for me. There should be no need for anyone to PM me asking what colour it is, how many miles etc right down to tread depth on the tyres as it should all be in the advert. If people can see you have taken the time to compile an advert, I think they would be more inclined to give it a second thought.

You are a prime example of an excellent advert.

I think the less you put the more you are trying to hide.  But having seen a lot of motor trade in action I think if you read and reread a lot of advers carefully you can suss people out.

For example, Josh posted an autotrader link wondering why an MV6 with 84k hadnt sold.  Well I read that as, has a small crack in the front bumper. (Keep reading)

Ok, so Josh as a trader would source ot repair the bumper depending on his findings, check the car over, detail it and retail for a nice profit.

So is this dealer offering what looks like a steal and using the bumper as the excuse for why it's cheap - and dare I say it, hope you focus on that and nothing else on the car.  Am I right in thinking MV6 did not come with a wood dash option, but does a set of seats make a CD/CDX an MV6 eyc etc.

In a nutshell, if people really are too lazy or too stupid to write a simple advert, well, thats their issue.  They are then often the first to look surprised when it doesn't sell.

I'm just the stupid kid from the local comprehensive, but even I can see if you want anything, you need to put a small amount of effort in.  I don't see writing an ad, and popping up a handful of photos as rocket science  :-/.  Some people just expect their 15yr old rustbuckets will sell here.

Additionally, OOF must be the hardest place to sell Omegas, unless there are unique in some way.  So sellers should try extra hard...

Which in turn is what happened above.

[edit]update.

Just advertised the car in my local rag, for £600, been offered £575 so car is now sold.

Must just say that i was disappointed with the respone from the oof, we seem to have a lot of traders on the site who seem to want cars for next to nothing, thus making a mockery of the owners form.

However thats a problem for another day.

Thanks for looking
[/edit]

I think the lack of responce was to the poor advert in the 1st place.  :-/ and thus making a mockery of the owners form.  :-/ and for that reason did not gain any interest.

I wasn't being specific, just general, but yes, that was a poor ad. Result = car not sold (here)...

Sorry to ask this Phil but what are you wanting from this thread?

The forum to have its own Template for cars sales?

If people want to advertise their cars badly then really that is up to them.
