I was 17 in 1980 so the music was everywhere. I hated the whole scene at the time much prefering the more rough & ready biker life & the music that went with it. I'm still not really into twinkly music or dressing up as a pretty boy but age brings understanding, understanding & nostalgia. I have fond memories of hopeful fumbles & Haircut 100, Altered Images, Duran Duran, Bananarama & the Fun Boy 3, even Meat Loaf crackling through a tinny speaker in a rusty old Ford, Mini, Viva, Avenger etc. & it does bring a smile. Today i'd probably get arrested/beaten up for having a 17/18 year old girl in my car (it'd be worth it!!!) more like 17/18 stone but i get 80's music now & still enjoy the Police, Joy Division, Spandau Ballet, OMD, Human League etc.
For anyone curoius but not sure where to start buy a DAB radio (with FM) CD & ipod dock from Tesco £80 sounds great & you can listen to Asoloute 80's all day. Had DAB at home for years now & would'nt be without it. Guy. :y

I also enjoy 80's music.

You dont need a DAB radio to receive the Absolute DAB channels, you can listen to them online  :y

Fair point well made. I'd forgotten about that, get online & have a listen you lot! I use my DAB in the kitchen as i like to cook & not interfere with those watching telly in the living room. In fact i've got more CD's in the kitchen than anywhere else!! ::)

I was born in the early seventies and I'm sorry, but I really didn't like much about the 80's - all that synthesizer music and the stupid hairstyles just don't agree with me. I much prefer the 70's stuff like funk and disco, camper vans etc etc even though I was very young at the time.

And eyeliner? NO WAY!!!  ;D

Oh, and Rick Astley, need I say more?
aaahhhhh someone had to mention him [smiley=thumbdown.gif] ;D ;D

I was a scooter boy in the early 80s and into the Northern Soul/Motown/Two Tone stuff but around about the mid 80's I had a Kevin Keegan mullet and used to sit once a month at a mates house with curlers in. I would go out dressed like Don Johnson with my jacket sleeves rolled up, white pants an shoes with no socks, my shirts would be pastel colours. Them were the days ;D

I'm with you 100%. Thought it was all sh1te at the time. More recent music has taught me that I didn't know the meaning of the word back then. ;D

In the early 80's, I was mostly driving a Yellow AA Car, and wearing Nappies.

I'm knocking on 30 now, and I feel terribly old.  I make noises when I sit down (not the usual fart noises) and noises when I get up from a seat.

I dread the next 40 odd years.  :'(
